during registration, i saw Moo as surname option.. and inmediately thought about: Moo, like in the cow sound... hmmmmm wait a minute: a cow says moo, so i added the word say infront of it and thus the avatar name was born.

Many people find this name funny as i read in spontanious compliments i receive (either IM or global chat), besides that, in many occassions, out of knowhere i get "MOOOO!" chat greetings as soon as they spot me...

lol:p

void: an area of emptiness
singer: one that vocalizes a song (also a sewing machine brand)

possible translations:
linear: someone that can't sing
lingual: someone singing in an empty space
thoughtful: someone casting their voice into a wide space (like the internet)
backhanded: any vocal internet user (as we all do the above by being here)
dark: someone talking to noone in particular in hopes of being heard
darker: a person with no life (empty of song)
etc, ad nauseam

pick which ever you like
=)

I just wanted a name I could "live with". Darion has long been a name I favor, and out of the available choices that day Rasmuson stood out, being Scandinavian and also similar to an old family name. A rather "ordinary" name by SL standards but then I guess I'm a rather ordinary guy.

Well...
Several years ago I chose the name BlindWanderer, but in conversation it kept getting abbreviated to Blind, and that just annoyed the heck out of me. So I decided I needed a new one. So I was looking for a word to describe how I felt at the time but unfortunately the word I was looking for was alluding me that evening so I settled on Strife instead; the word I had been looking for was Anguish. By the time I realized what word I was looking for it was too late, everyone knew me as Strife. The irony is, Strife appeals more to my personality. :D

As for the last name? I'm just a bit of an otaku is all. I wanted something Japanese, I wasn't thinking of the Manga/Anime GTO.

Jig has many connotations for me.
It is the name of the girl in "Hills Like White Elephants" by Ernest Hemingway.
Hamlet refers to himself as a "jig-maker" and also in II ii 460.
A jig is a dance and a song, a bait for the unwary, a pattern and a tool.
Jig can't be shortened and Jig was my nickname when I was little.
I was the first Jig in sl - there are others now.
I like my last name too but I think most Chippewas are gone now.
Jig Chippewa! That's me! :)

Archie - cos it was my radio call sign before radios were legal in England (Archiebald really)
Lukas cos the other surnames were dumb ass and a pain to type.

Also known as Lord Lukas; cos the real Lord Lucan has been missing 20 odd years and, well here I am....... and no-one has found me yet,
snigger...

I could have called myself !

but Prince did that and besides, these arty names just make me yawn and ohhh crap meself with laughter.
No harm intended.

My real first name and the last name of a best friend who I grew up with. He was killed a couple of decades ago. I had eventually forgotten about him until I saw the name was available when I signed up. It is actually kind of nice that now, even after 3 years, I still think about him when I log on and it is kind of like he is a part of me now.

Raudf (raowth) Fox, because raudf is the female form of the adjective red in Icelandic. Fox, because I happened to like the last name best of all that was available at the time.

Trilliannas Ninetails, because I had a Lineage II dwarf that I loved, a mastersmith and a Kheldian on CoH. Ninetails because it fit with Fox, what else?

Mine is a long thought out process of mathmatical numbers and the earths alignment with the planets, plus a few magic potions and drawing of the spirits of the dead for emphisis.. Then of course these are calculated by a super computer and ran at length through a series of DNA tests and of course merged into an excell spread sheet and the logical order of the numbers and sequence of numbers there by resulted in my name selection.....

Oddly enough the results were very close to my own rl name.. But to just drop letters and ad one or two would be to easy so the afore mentioned process was required for perfect selection!

I don't think any explanantion is needed. When people meet me, they remember my name. Would I change it? Not in a million years.

Morgan Flannery.

"Morgan" to honor my Welsh roots and my love of the sea. "Flannery" 'cause of the RL red hair. Put 'em together and it's a nice tip of the hat to my heritage ;)

Gita has been my nickname for years in forums...and I learned in SL that it is a important name in Hinduism. Go figure! Now all the guys from India are running after me...

Burger I chose, because I figured no-one else wants to be named after food. And it kind of sounds nice together, Gita Burger. New kind of burger!!! Only L$10!

I beg your pardon!

Haha, first time in this thread, and I started with the last post on the last page, and I read that!

I picked "Cocoanut" for my name in TSO, and it has been my name ever since, everywhere. (I like friends from other games to be able to find me.)

I figured avatars aren't quite human but rather whimsical, so I wanted a whimsical name that isn't quite human.

I wasn't sure how to spell "Cocoanut," so inadvertently I picked the less common spelling. But that works, too, because it spells, "Coco, a nut."

In SL, I picked Koala for a last name, as it was the only whimsical last name available.

Since then, I have made two alts: Cocoanut Cookie, and Strawbearry Shortbread.

So let's not have any anti-food prejudice here! Ms. Gita Burger!

coco <---- see, it has a good nickname, too!

osgeld is from a suggestion on the charater naming screen in asherons call, it has something to do with the games lore, which does not proceed past the year 1999, when they gave up on that crap

barmy just sounds goofy assed

my alts ...

wood golem, again from AC, one of the monsters in the game, in SL its my noobie chaser (she looks like golem from LOTR's nasty dumps, i love harassing, sexually harassing noobies with her)

and Delux Tucker, well i was semi sloshed and it kinda sounded dirty/sleazy, and btw he is one of the most cartoonist av's quite possibly made with the linden defaults ever

At first I tried quite ordinary names like Emma and Laura, but they were not available at all.

Then I tried to think up less-common names, but didn't do very well. I tried Darcy, Destiny, Harmony... various Irish names... and I forget what else, but I didn't like the last names that came up.

So, I spent a couple of *days* googling for unusual names and looking through lists. I'd jot names down and hate them afterward...

In the end I saw "Key" and I knew I wanted it.

There is a country somewhere on earth where people use "Key" as a first name, though I've forgotten where it is, and what the word means to them.

And "MacMoragh" was the closest I could get to my own heritage and hair color.
