Isn't this like the 400th thread on "everyone is so darn mean!"

If I had the energy, I'd find all those other threads and post links to them here. As it is, I'm off to take a nap.

I think that's kinda mean to point that out.

I try to be funny/sarcastic but no one ever gets it. Seems people don't like sarcasm.

I remember reading studies years ago that showed that with the anonymity of online situations people did indeed relax thier gaurd on thier behavior and often were considerably ruder/meaner than they would ever consider being in RL, Simply because there were NO consequences for thier behavior.

The odds of me finding those studies again after this many years are slim but I am sure others have been done.

Vicious, cold hearted and brutally mean-spirited. Frankly, I'm astounded and insulted to the very core of my being. My paradigm has shifted. I never expected you, of all people, to display this sort of callousness towards your fellow human beings. Are you a communist? I think you must be. Dirty commie. You should be wrapped in barbed wire, rolled down a hill of cacti, scraped raw with sandpaper then dumped in a vat of rubbing alcohol, shaved bald and put on display, naked, bald, shivering, bleeding and stinging all over while school children point and laugh at the meanest woman on earth.

Wheee! This is fun.

Sure, colonize us. I'm certain room can be made on the flag for a mini maple leaf somewhere, between stripe 3 and 4. Wow! We'd be the biggest, baddest country in the world!

Ahhh, Cuba. Beautiful place to visit - Oh, you've never been? That's sad.

Psst, just to let everyone in on a secret, we're actually pretty rude. We just made that rumour up and it spread like wildfire. Why just the other day, I bumped into someone and he had the audacity to apologize. Jerk!

We did colonize you, many years ago. but then we tucked you in behind North Dakota and forgot about you too, along with North Dakota. We did it to have a place to get rid of all those damn draft dodgers and stuff, and aplace to buy cheap prescription medicines. You only think you're independent.

For the most part, I believe the studies. I was something like 18 or 19 when I was getting into chatrooms and boy did my second personality come out. I didn't care one bit, I said what I thought when I thought it. Now, years later and no longer the chatroom hooker, I find it to be the opposite. My RL is where I say what I think when I think it, completely no filter, but in forums or SL....I tend to tread lightly as I fear my sarcasm will be greatly misunderstood and why I care is unknown to me. Crazy me thinks. :D

It's yet another "why isn't everyone blowing sunshine up my ass" thread.

People are going to disagree. Don't take it personally until it IS personal.

End of story.

If I ever muster up the dough to buy some land and then sit down long enough to learn how to build, I'll do it. Until then, it's Theater of the Mind. (cue spooky music)

Once and for all, there is no clique!

Oh, yes there is. Maybe not in a group type of way but there is a most definite clique in here. The usual 'happy go-lucky crowd' who can do no wrong and anyone who isn't with them is wrong, rude, a malcontent. Anyone who disagrees or expresses their view which they don't agree upon. The same ones who won't ever say what they truly feel, only what all the others say so they won't be viewed as outsiders.

But for me I love it. I love getting under their skin as it's always so easy to do. I enjoy it. So it doesn't bother me in the least.

To the op, who cares what they say. Don't give it a second thought as it means absolutely nothing. Express your views and go with it, I do.

Hey, is it cold in PA? I'm flying to NYC tomorrow.

Freezingly cold. It's brutal out here in NYC. PA, I don't know as I'm in the city itself but it should be the same more or less there.

I agree with Ricardo, even if it isn't what I truly feel.

*How can anyone know what someone else truly feels?*

You are so out of the clique.

But seriously, I disagree with the people I like and respect here all the time. But I still treat them with respect. There's only one strict requirement to feeling "a part of" rather than "apart from" on this forum: Have a decent sense of humor.

What, do you mean Canada isn't part of the United States? Are you sure? I live in Detroit, and all we have to do is drive across a bridge (or go under the river in a tunnel - no thanks) and you are there. It's like going to, Ohio, or something.

Gee, that's the nicest thing I've heard about my adopted home state! ;)

I miss NYC in the winter. I just love the way the wind whips through the canyons to bite into your raw skin. Good stuff *sigh*

Well, I have not been initiated into any clique. But you often get under my skin.. at least you don't discriminate. :)

Since we lost our moderator. I don't like some of what I've seen, and I join Ray and Oryx and others in hoping that we soon get another mod.

Yay!! Stay lost!

Yes, it's already known some here desperately need to be looked after. Need to be made to behave as we as adults can't seem to do it ourselves, right?

Speaking in general I've never seen a group who crave to be looked after like little kids so they won't hurt themselves. Is it because they feel lost? Maybe they're submissive types and need to be controlled? It's just so amazing to me the need to be supervised some have here. Or maybe it's they want to be appointed mods themselves, I don't know, could it.

It's pretty tamed here so I don't see the big deal with these types. Incredible but oh so true.
