I have no idea why I started visiting the forums, I asked a question and got addicted. Since then, I have had about 40% rude answers, or people who were pissed about my questions or comments. Is this more like a clique that does not welcome new people, or have I done something that really pissed off ppl to no end? I can't find 1 time that I meant to come off sounding rude. I think they should put an argue forum here, because I've noticed a lot of you that just want to argue.
P.S. This does not apply to those of you who are nice to me.

luvs and hugs Penny!!
People have conflicting personalities in RL as well as SL and the forums, it's just one of those things darlin. Keep posting, ignore the rude comments as best you can. I have noticed a lot of really good people here...........=))

don;t really know you, so had to choose the my answer not listed here
I do not like to argue, but yes, some do.
I have not seen anything from you that would constitute you being rude or deserving of rudeness directed at you.
yes I do see some people who are argumentative, and tend to jump on every thread to say something negative
there are also ppl who think they have all the answers (and they do, just sometimes it is the wrong answer) hehe
and of course there are those who tend to just blend in
(pretty much like any forum set)

Why can't I see this rudeness that everyone is complaining about? Perhaps I contribute, and am hence blind to it? I've said it before and I'll say it again: this is one of the tamest forums I've seen on the interwebs.
I don't get it.

From: Graphicguru Gustav Hi Penny,
I hope you didn't take reply as being rude, I was just trying to be helpful in furthering the question...Graph also gives you a great big huggle! The word "huggle" makes me laugh hysterically because of the 2+2 forums, which is another forum, completely unrelated to SL that I frequent - Any 2+2'ers here? Anyway, Penny - I didn't see the post you were talking about. I don't feel like there's a clique here. I really don't want to be involved in a clique, and even though I occasionally post a smart-ass reply, I'm really not trying to hurt anyone or be nasty to anyone. I hope you haven't taken anything that I said that way, but if you did, then I apologize. It's been my experience that everyone here is very welcoming. I'm still pretty new, and people welcomed me right in and made me feel at home. As far as I'm concerned, you're welcome here.

Once and for all, there is no clique! And anyone who thinks that this forum is rude I highly suggest they go check out some other forums out there. This forum is the most polite one I've ever participated in. I can't for the life of me figure out why this keeps coming up. I'm not buying it.
If someone has their feelings hurt here and thinks it's rude then they really need to look at themselves not the forums. End of story. I'm sorry Penny, if that seems rude to you.

40% rude answers? Are you sure? Or is it that 40% of people have a different point of view?
There's bound to be a few rude people everywhere, not just on forums. You and only you can decide to answer in the same manner. It is a bit shocking at times to be answered in an abrupt manner, but we all have different ways of communicating. It gets out of hand when (being human and all) we feel the need to strike back in a ever so slightly MORE rude way. Just learn to breathe and let it go. Easier said than done, i know, but you'll feel better about yourself.

'nice' and 'internet' in the same post is almost oxymoronic This is going to come off as 'rude' but ill take my chances, 'Welcome to the Internet.' =) Thick skin and the ability to take things with a grain of salt when perusing the net isn't optional, its a REQUIREMENT. If you are unable to do that or/and are of frail esteem then the net probably isn't a good place for such a person. Look at it this way, these people are just a bunch of strangers on the net, why would their rudeness effect me to the degree I feel hurt? As if some stranger passes me on the street turned to me out of the blue and called me a 'jerk'. What would you do? Shrug it off and move on is my answer, same applies here.

IMHO, 90% of what someone terms "rude" is more often a case of "reader applied a tone to the post that wasn't there."
That being said, these forums have about the same ratio of a**holes to nice people that RL does. There is no escaping them even in virtual life.

Those are really funny..lol I guess I'm just having a really hard day and have taken so much shit from so many ppl in the last few days, and I kinda just had the last straw when I noticed I was attacked in my last thread for asking a personal question...lol I needed a place to relax and forums help me chill out, usually. And I just wanted to know if I had burned my bridges on this one.

Penny, sorry you feel that way. I don't think people mean to be rude, but there are different styles of writing and sometimes I think the "tone" isn't taken the same way it is meant. Some of the regs. must see the same questions over and over and that must be tedious too.

Sorry Penny, I do try to answer questions without being nasty or anyting, but i think this is BS. I have seen the posts you talk about and I see nothing nasty about them at all. This is a forum. There are many different people, all different, with widely differing views on some subjects. Deal with it. FFS, i am sick of all the threads/posts which say 'the forums are too nasty', 'stop being mean to me', 'i don't like it'. When all that has happened is that someone has disagreed and said so. Go run to your mum if it is that bad. Sure there are people who argue for the sake of it. Who cares? Grow a thick skin. Learn to deal with/ignore comments which get your back up. The mute button is a good option if it bothers you that much. I'm sorry but the nature of the forums mean that someone is going to clash at sometime. And I just know this tread is going to make all of the snipers and moaners crawl out of the wood work and start complaining. Grow Up. i voted number 4 because up until now you have never said anything to piss me off. (I am never like this and I am sorry. I just had to say something. It just pisses me off is all. This is a valuable place for a lot of people and the forum are my family so to speak. We may not all agree but lay off them please)

So take a deep breath...
01-22-2008 12:45
Penny,
The forums and the forum hangout are two completely different things...I can go to the hangout and dance, chat, unwind from a stressful day, and go away feeling just great. On the other hand those same people I danced with yesterday may 'seemingly' twist my head off in here... here in the open public forums... just to drive home a certain point they hold dear; all the while not realizing its making me uncomfortable. (Not their fault they didn’t realize).
So take a deep breath...laugh it off...and we'll see you at the forum hangout in a few hours for a round of dancing and crazy fun!
And to think I was feeling blue a few days ago...take a look at my Phase II posting. I wasn't suicidal or anything as severe as that, but I was close to just walking away, I was desperately avoiding taking anything the wrong way (yeah, I confess I am an emotional guy)... suffice it to say, not all of us are thick skinned... the internet, after all is open to all sorts, thick or thin, so take a deep breath...and let it out slowly while we give you a group hug!

This is precisely why the Forum Cartel came into being. It was after a particular acrimonious bit of posting that a small group of participants met inowrld to put a face to the names. people who were laying into each other with no quarter, were getting together in world, laughing with each other and having a good time.
