From: Brenda Connolly We discussed it at length and it isn't a good idea. But I feel it was the equivalent of being rude to a customer service rep at any service provider, which is all SL really is. If you were to be verbally abusive to the person on the phone of your cable company, thehave the right to ignore you, and hang up on you, they do not have to take abuse. But they would never suspend your service as long as it was paid up. This was an overreaction in my opinion, especially since it was directed at the company in general, not a specific Linden. Fortunately, it was worked out, and little harm was done. The wayit works in the customer service world is that once you cross the line into profanity the CS rep no longer has to deal with you. It was Linden Lab standard operational procedure to send you to the corner. What is amazing is that they suspended your time out early - not a normal practice. .

Yes, when I am upset or feel a topic or action is unfair, I am very vocal about it. What other way do we have express ourselves in a virtual world. Lindens did something that will ruin a lot of people. I said the f word in a group of my peers, several who were using similar language moments after they dropped this bomb on us. I was singled out and almost suspended for 3 days. No I did not apologize to be allowed back. I would not apologize for something that I am not sorry for. The live chat member who I was connected with felt this was an odd punishment for saying a single word and said that she didn't understand it because normally it would have just gotten an im at most. After all the things Linden Labs has done lately, I think someone saying the f word is the least of what they should be worrying about. One f word should not be an issue at all in 18+ game of adults. If it is really that offensive to you then honestly you have no business being in Second Life. I hear club penguin is 100% profanity free.

English is a very rich language. From: Sarah Nerd I would not apologize for something that I am not sorry for. That just speaks about you. From: Sarah Nerd If it is really that offensive to you then honestly you have no business being in Second Life. No? I think you need to sort your thinking out a bit. Or do you prefer SL to be only for foul-mouthed people?

But they don't suspend your service. Tell me one service provider who will do that. Cable? Electric? Gas? ISP? You get hung up on, and your issue is unresolved. Nope. I don't agree with it, and wouldn't no matter who it happened to. And maybe that's why the time out was curtailed. it was a bad business decision. I staill say a filed AR would have been sufficient. But then again, I'm not a warm and fuzzy SL is a magical world , where we all hold hands type.

You honestly feel that a 3 day ban that blocks me form doing the work to pay them thousands of dollars is fair for saying the word fuck moment after they raise our tier 67%?

If the Linden who issued it thinks so, then I think so too. It was a public place, and you did wrong in it. They decide the action to take, not me. If I'd said it there, I wouldn't be complaining that I'd been suspended for 3 days, because I would have deserved it, imo. I would have been kicking myself though - not starting two threads and advertising a blog about it as though I hadn't done anything wrong and I'd been wronged.

Ohhhh I get it now. It's not ok to use the word fuck even when you have just been wronged by a company, but it's perfectly acceptable to be total "assholes" (sorry I didn't know the proper civil term) as long as you use the proper language. I've just never been very good at being passive aggressive. I blame my straight forward parents.

And I can't begin to tell you how many people messaged me to ask about the ban. Sometimes it's a lot easier to post it in public venues than repeat it 50 times in world. Plus like I said when I disagree with something I'm vocal. I was about bot theft, I was about ad farms, and I am about this price increase. Obviously your very interested in what I have to say, your still here.

From: Sarah Nerd You honestly feel that a 3 day ban that blocks me form doing the work to pay them thousands of dollars is fair for saying the word fuck moment after they raise our tier 67%? gosh i guess when my RL coworker who went off on our boss last spring, after we had been put on reduced hours, and got fired, he was just reacting like people normally should when they are upset. how draconian that they fired him! he put his blood sweat and tears into that job and depended on it to feed his kids. guess he should have thought of that before he went off on the boss. bite the hand..and all. anyway, this is pointless because entitlement generation thinks they can do no wrong and everyone is supposed to pat them on the back as if they were a hero for throwing a tantrum. as long as theyre part of the crowd. cant count how many times i have seen no namers in here crying about a ban or suspension and they got run out of town on a rail, ridiculed all the way. can guarantee had some nobody come here complaining they got suspended after cussing at LL, they would have been laughed right out of here. funny thing that.

Quit playing the age card, it makes you appear bitter. And I don't work for Linden Labs. I pay them, and pay them very well to be here. Using the apology of an employee getting upset at work isn't a fair comparison. I was in a group chat with several of my peers saying similar things.

Using the apology of an employee getting upset at work isn't a fair comparison. I was in a group chat with several of my peers saying similar things. the age card is more than ok here. someone who has this grand responsibility you view yourself as having towards all your tenants should act more professionally. you don't get it because you have probably been allowed to get away with it elsewhere in your life. you used profanity at LL and not only are you not at all taking responsibility for your part in it, you say its what should be done. and the "but other people were saying stuff" is straight-up junior high mentality. you really care a LOT about your tenants hey? thats why the age card is relevant, because you havent grown up enough to realize that there are things more important than your own impulses.
