My short lived ban from Second Life.

I had a lot of people message me in world asking if it was true that I had been suspended, and the answer is Yes I was. Right after the announcement came out, I was in group chat with the concierge information group. A lot of people were voicing there anger over this. I through in a "F You LL" and then thought I had crashed. I didn't crash, they suspended my account for 3 days for making the comment. Live chat lifted the ban shortly after. I got my forum privileges back this morning. I did a blog with all of the details ...

I'm thankful it was fixed quickly because I have a ton of work to handle in the next few days, but still a bit hurt they did this in the first place. Did anyone else have anything like this happen?

Not judging you at all Sarah, we're all angry. But, no matter how much we want to let lose on them, FU is never well received.

I have to admit, my first thought on the price hike was "Screw that!"... But I only expressed that to the individual who told me about it.

We discussed it at length and it isn't a good idea. But I feel it was the equivalent of being rude to a customer service rep at any service provider, which is all SL really is. If you were to be verbally abusive to the person on the phone of your cable company, thehave the right to ignore you, and hang up on you, they do not have to take abuse. But they would never suspend your service as long as it was paid up. This was an overreaction in my opinion, especially since it was directed at the company in general, not a specific Linden. Fortunately, it was worked out, and little harm was done.

I actually agree that it was overreaction. I understand Sarah's frustration completely....she's a long time resident of the community. As I said, I wasn't judging.

Honestly I have a hard time even seeing it as that.

If that remark had been directed at a single Linden by name it would have been very different (although still excessive, they could have simply revoked her ability to talk in the group for a "cool down", but this was aimed at LL as an impersonal entity, not even at Lindens in general as a group of people.

That seems to be a very sensible analogy.

The LL decision-maker was rather Imperial in this instance.

Welcome back, Sarah. 3 days was a little over the top, considering the loss you're going to incur. I am glad you got a reprieve, but really, it's not like you were harassing an individual person.

Has anyone got the date of the next meeting I really like to be there..I was only days from buying two Open Space Sims when the hike in price was announced (I was not amused..though probably less upset than had I just bought them).

I'll make a point of wearing my latest aquisition..

Sarah just said what everyone is feeling over it. And LL actually came around, realized they overreacted, and canceled the suspension.

The wierd thing is not long after Sarah said it, I said it too in the same concierge chat. When I heard she'd been banned for it, I let my EMs know that I might also be vanishing for a while.

Appearantly, sometimes being small and unknown has its advantages.

Sarah, I think you got what you deserved. I think anyone who did such a thing should have been banned/suspended.

Yes. It ws a BS move. No service provider worth a crap would suspend a paid in good standing customer for something like this.

I don't know, I am sorry you went through that Sarah but if I got that upset and it resulted to being banned I think for me it would be sign to take my money somewhere else personally if it got that bad where I was cursing at people, including LL.
I have gotten upset but not to that point yet but quite close but it hasn't gotten to so out of hand that it resulted in me being banned.

I'm glad to see you back, Sarah. I think the only thing better than what you said would have been if Desmond had told them to kiss his Victorian ass. I don't see that happening though.
