I'm married in RL (20 years) and have never come close to cheating on my wife. I've been in SL only about three months. My RL wife is my SL girlfriend, though we haven't officially become partners or bought land and a house yet. We have been intimate. I've been hit on by a number of women lately. Last night ended up with me in her house doing a couples dance—nothing more. But I get the distinct feeling that this could go all the way in a heartbeat. Since I am relatively new, could I get some opinions about casual sex in SL, the positives and the negatives? Right question, but wrong group. What do we care what you do? The only opinion that matters on this is yours and your wife's. Whether or not some random schmoe cares what you do is a non-issue. |

However, due to my lack of understanding the subtle points and etiquette of SL, it just seems prudent to at least hear what others had to say. If a great majority had said, "Hey, it's just pixels! Don't worry! Go out and have some fun!" I may have made a different decision. But most of the posts point out that despite the artificiality of the environment, the emotions that it evokes are very powerful indeed. So I will heed their warnings and not jeopardize both a RL and SL relationship that is truly important just to satisfy my lust for the unknown. Luckily for me there is still innuendo, double entendres, salacious wordplay and shameless flirting that I can engage in. And who knows, maybe even a genuine conversation here and there. Let the good times roll! |
