I didnt read about them - I asked ASCIIrider and he confirmed those groups had issues with LL regarding depictions of child avatars. He said a few ruined it for everyone else (whatever that means). Where is the error? These groups are no longer because of this. Where is the grey area?

I see no sense in arguing with her. She talks of common sense, but has nothing to do with it as far as her own judgements and posts are concerned. If something sparks her imagination, such as nude avs, she assumes that it's about sex. If the avs happen to be adult and child, she assumes pedophilia. There is no sense in a person who thinks like that, and it's pointless trying to discuss it with her.

You just stated the grey area. You say that LL had a problem with depictions of child avatars. You also say that they were pedolphile groups. Depictions of child avatars is pedophilia now? Family photos taken in an RL naturist resort, that include children, is pedophilia? You don't know what pedophilia is, do you?

It seems to me that you're on a mission and you don't stop short of encouraging people to act illegally. You only stop short of doing it yourself - presumably to avoid any possible consequences. And don't claim that it's only avs and, therefore, wouldn't stand up in court, as you did earlier. You're encouraging them to accuse the people at the keyboards. Animated drawing cannot be pedophiles - only the people operating them can be pedophiles, and they are the ones you encourage people to libel.

I really do not think pictures of real nude children can be posted in the internet - no matter where the piture was taken. Wouldn't the authorities consider that child pornagraphy?
It wasnt just child avatars these cited groups depicted- it was the situation these groups depicted the child avatars in that was cross the line into pedophilia.

Thanks to everyone for considering the topic; I have been reading along but am beginning to think that this thread has descended into discussion of specific people, not ideas.

There was never intention of sparking or continuing arguments; the whole thing was, believe it or not, just an honest question to the forum group in general. Perhaps dry "this, but not that" responses alone would have been useful.

Gentle suggestion: if this thread continues to barrel along as animosity over substance, perhaps it's worth closing.

Sorry your so sad. I saw the title of the thread and I did not have anything so offensive to post about until I saw that xstreet posting - so I added my two cents here. I had no idea that some would actually defended pediophelia - or adultas dancing nude with nude child avatars - or groups cited and shuttered for such activities.

Well, how would anyone see these pictures of children at nudist colonies if they werent distruibuted? Just taking pictures and taking them home won't cause any problems - because no one would know about them.
But ASCIIrider was a member of those groups and could probably get you the information on why Linden Lab shut one down quickly and pressured one owner to stop his group- or just ask ASCIIrider the owners names and they can fill you in. This did atually happen (as was confirmed several times by ASCIIrider in this thread). If you need gory details to second guess Linden Lab then you can certainly ask the parties involed for them.
