The GOM debacle has scared them. They need to get some surety that the Lindens aren't going to just wipe their businesses out tomorrow.

And Roman Doctrine shows that "surity" is a sin and should be outlawed.. :p couldn't resist the merchant of venice ref. sorry.

I like the fact that they said they were the ones wanting to keep media types out :)

I advise everyone to go back now and read post #1.

Draw your own conclusions.. looks to me like editorial said there was a meeting.. (true)
That certain types were not welcome, nor was the press..(true)

Makes an observation on the group as a whole (opinion)

Where the meeting was held (true)

A chat log (true)

and finally the groups charter. (true)

hmm seems he posted mainly fact and one option...

In a strange twist of fate - Mulch would like on one hand to see Editorial banned for pubishing something while asking the lindens for transparency :)

Good luck getting Editorial banned.. especially in light of:

From: Philip Linden

Philip Linden: I think that things this group may do should be uniformly public.

Aint that a kick in the pants?

But that requires more than 4 sentences in a forum. You think you can commit that much, or is that it? If that is all the "stake" you are willing to invest, then that is the extent of your participation.

Thank you for reminding me I'm a second-class citizen.

But without burrito boy i wouldn't even know about this post, so i guess, i have to thank his nacho cheesiness

You seem to know everything, answer this smart guy

Prok is insane, I really can't defend him

Do you even know what that means "throwing crap at the wall and see what sticks" boy?

Those who criticize, can't. Face it and go crying to mamma.

Which do you enjoy more, reading your own words or smelling your own farts?

And as far as your capacity, shoot for the stars you may reach it. Aim for the crapper and I bet you do make that too.

Explain why you weren't at the town hall and THEN bitch about who gets promoted.

And let me clarify what I mean by bottomfeeders

Those who are more interested in smelling thier own farts then giving time for facts, as opposed to editorials

You are faced with 2 choices now, whiners

Won't join, Then STFU because obviously you don't care enough to do anything but smell you own farts.

If you couldn't spare me the time to answer, prrofread and spellcheck, why should I spare you the time?

One good fart deserves another.

it just seems really crappy how hard some of us worked on maiking this a win/win for everyone, how much infighting, how much BS from Prok I had to put up with, only to have the vultures on the forums make up thier mind on the universe and creationism based on 1 editorial.

1st off, I was the one who requested and held the vote for press to leave for the FIRST MEETING. Just because this was bound to happen, and we wanted to establish a "diplomatic" relationship 1st. If everyone wanted to join to "hang out with Philip," what exactly do you think we could accomplish?
This makes no sense to me. You wanted the press to leave so that the group could establish diplomatic relations? Why? If you have nothing to hide, why did it cross your mind to ask the press (SPECIFICALLY the press, not me or any of the other interlopers) to leave?

Seems they've already found a way to keep the riff-raff out. Seems that no one can join while an officer recall is in effect. So either someone is already fucking with the group, or they are fucking it up for others wishing to participate by holding a fake officer recall.

I'm assuming its the former, but conspiracy theory would suggest the latter.

Problem is didn't king philip say there was only one gov't and it was LL not so long ago? Apparently that has changed.

He also said LL wouldn't ever sell or trade $L.

The past ones include:

You are walking down a country lane.. the crisp wind in your hair as you tread the lightly dewy ground.... Ahead you see a small bird on the road, its small wing has been broken by the fall from it's lofty nest...

Huns you were a last minute arrival. did anyone ask you to leave?

You want to know why i distrust the "press"

bucause my background is in media

here is a secret, if you want the media to cover your event, provide food

the moral of the story, the media is self serving

at this stage, all they will do is prop themselves up with it

if you don't believe me, you are a bigger sheep than you realize

so, who EXACTLY asked YOU or prohibited YOU, a resident to leave?

Actually, the group was announced in open chat at the Town Hall on Tuesday, and everyone present there was invited to join. Among them were content creators, FIC members (if I'm assuming rightly who the FIC are?), service providers, land owners, consumers, club owners, "nobodys" (like me), and anyone interested in wearing the tag "GOM Trader". The title was changed to "Stakeholder" after the Town Hall because it was felt that the GOM situation was not the only focus of the group, though it certainly prompted it's formation. During the Town Hall everyone who joined the group then was privy to the group IM going on during the discussion with Philip Linden, in which a follow-up meeting to discuss the event further was scheduled.

I cannot find where this was mentioned in the Town Hall Transcript? I could only find mention of a group forming based on the following question and answer:

From: someone
Philip Linden: Satchmo Prototype: If SL is to really become the next generation Internet platform we need open working groups that includes both residents and LL employees to develop API's everyone can use.
Philip Linden: Would Linden Lab consider creating an Engineering Working Group to develop open, secure, and well defined protocols for money exchange?
Philip Linden: Yes
Philip Linden: We'd be happy help and support that kind of a process. What I think would make sense would be for a resident to generate a starting proposal and gather support for it from other residents - we'd be happy to participate anywhere along the way.

/3/dc/59668/1.html

Can you point out to me in the transcript where a group like the MJW was mentioned / joined / etc.?

From: Mulch Ennui
It wasn't hidden. Were you at the town hall? Should we have sent a
singing telegram to you to tell you? We were given an opportunity (a rare one) and we jumped at it. Should we be condemned because we didn't send out a prim invite with particles and a landmark to every single resident of SL?
No, I was not at the town hall. I was at work. Is that ok with you? I was unaware that I was supposed to read the future and predict that some power mongers group was going to strike a deal with LL at this meeting. I guess I was supposed to take a day off work, just in case. Never mind that historically, at town halls, LL doesn't invite specific groups to come have a private pow-wow with them. What, are the people who listened at remote listeners "indifferent" too because they didn't know that attending the main event was the only way to get special privileges?

From: Mulch Ennui
Be realistic here.
"Realistic"? You need to come down off your fucking high-horse pal. The fact that you expect people to have ESP more than amply illustrates who needs to be "realistic" here.

From: Mulch Ennui
90% of anything is just showing up
.Yeah, provided you KNOW ABOUT IT FIRST.

From: Mulch Ennui
Philip agreed with things we brought to his attention. Why do you think we were given a meeting? Look at the transcripts to the town hall and what lead up to it, and the forums regarding his announcement. He understands the great concern over the precedent, and he chose to face the consequences when confronted about the overall ramifications.
I read the town hall transcripts bright bulb. Nothing in it indicates that I could join some group of wanna be politicians, and then have my ideas for the future of SL, WHICH AFFECT ALL OF US, entertained.

From: Mulch Ennui
Would you be happier if he hid out and didn't address what he knows is a polarizing issue?
I would be happier if this had been posted under the Linden Announcements Forum.

From: Mulch Ennui
If you want to know the "real purpose" of this group, join and find out. Don't be a lazy do-nothing who demands everything spoon fed in bite size chunks so you understand it. It is open enrollment, you just need to be smart enough and give a damn enough to be where things happen. I explained how I found out about this group. If you were where I was, why weren't you in the group.
You know, if this were any other venue, I would tear you a new one for speaking to me like that. Who the hell do you think you are? How can I be a "lazy do-nothing" when I had no freaking clue that I could even be a part of this? Oh. That's right. I didn't, and I was supposed to predict that your group would solicit and receive permission for a private consultation with LL! Brilliant!

From: Mulch Ennui
Were you at the town hall on the main sim?
NO, I wasn't, however, in your in your quote above this one, you've already apparently decided that I was, and that I am a "lazy do-nothing" and "[not] smart enough". You think people want people who talk the way you just have to me involved in policy making? HELL NO.

From: Mulch Ennui
Don't let YOUR indifference make me seem like a bad guy for giving a damn and going OUT OF MY WAY to be where things were happening. There was no secret, but there was no publicist either.
MY INDIFFERENCE? The only "indifference" I see here is your indifference toward the people that were not able to be present. So, by your moronic logic, people in Europe and Australia are not "smart enough" because it was the night-time where they live. Pshawww...

From: Mulch Ennui
Which bothers you more, the fact we didn't go out of our way to inform you or the fact we made progress without the "benefit" of your whiny complainy forum noises?
I could give a rat's ass who you informed or didn't inform. I think it was patently unprofessional of LL to not announce it. "Whiny"? "Complaining"? I am not going to grace this with a response other than to say that this type of shit is EXACTLY why I don't want you representing me, greenhorn.

From: Mulch Ennui
And since you brought it up, care to explain what the "real problem" is you are alluding to? I though we had a good start, if you clue me in, maybe we can add it to the notecard after you get off your ass, join the group, and do something besides make whiny complaining noises when we don't send you a personal invite to initiate progress and change.
The real problem is people who are officers in your group who have harped incessantly about LL favoring a certain, undefined group (FIC), now becoming a REAL, DEFINABLE GROUP JUST LIKE THAT WHICH THEY PISSED AND MOANED ABOUT FOR MONTHS.

From: Mulch Ennui
Pass the buck, you didn't do something so those of us who did suck right?
So, you think your entitled to more than me huh? How very, very telling.

From: Mulch Ennui
What do you do for a living that gives you this sense of entitlement without contributing anything?
What I do for a living is none of your fucking business. I, unlike you, do not think I am entitled to a special session with Linden Lab board members. My God you are thick!

You know what, I am glad that you decided to put yourself up on the podium for this group. I couldn't have discredited your group more with 500 posts! THANK YOU !

My thoughts. Did Mulch actually claim "Prok is insane"? Can we do that on the forums? I assumed a comment like that would get me AR'd.

As for me, I'll represent myself... thank you very much. I don't require some self-appointed representatives to speak for me or those outside SL I may represent. Especially if their real interests are protecting themselves (and I'm a big believer that people almost always act out of selfish interests).

What a joke.

Yeah. Except I wouldnt want a single one of the residents involved in that conversation speaking on my behalf. It must be my blind jealousy, of course, but there are at least three people in that conversation that I find to be beyond contempt. The words I'd like to use to describe them would get me permanently banned.

Assuming anyone but myself can represent me and "my SL" is completely whacked. Just a bunch of people on a wee power trip.

Oh well, as a few people already pointed out, it's laughable.
