More land extorsion: W-Hat group

That means she has -right now- $100,000 plus invested in pretend make-believe money. If Second life turns out to be less than successful- as Sims Online recently did- that money is lost. If Linden Labs announces that due to financial problems, the money is lost. If they decide to change the rules of the game, so that L$ is given away more easily, which they can do at anytime, the money is lost.

I don't know how much of your own cash you have put into the game, but $L is probably the most dangerous way to invest your money.

Anyone saying that a wealthy player or person can control SL strikes me as ridiculous. Silicon Valley is full of millionaires -- you think Philip is going to turn himself inside out for one of them who walks through the door and has some pet notion about SL? I don't think so, unless you are talking about Bill Gurley, his Benchmark board member! Philip's ambitions ARE MUCH bigger than that. For the time being, while he's got $8M in the bank and investors with very deep pockets, Philip is going to do what he and his investors think is right, and he won't do anything that diverts him from building his vision. Kow-towing I don't think is one of them. Kicking players off because a wealther player asks for it? I think he'd say, "get lost" in the span of milliseconds.

I don't know any uber uber rich people so I can't pass judgement, but i certainly know "millionaires" who are amazingly ethical (I personally happen not to be a millionaire, most unfortunately!).

I think you should have one set of moral values whether someone is rich or poor, one color or another, human or furry, this religion or that... it's easy to judge people from afar... but usually misguided.

In both cases it damages her, even if she didnt live here, purposedly ugly builds scare off customers, thus forcing her to keep the land and pay the tier for it or sell it underpriced to get rid of it. That is a kinda mafia-ish behavioir in my eyes, and could actually happen to everyone that has a neightbor ruthless enough to try that method. Thats why this kind of behavioirs have to be fought with all means necessary (whoever is the victim), before they become a common method to acquire land at a lower price.

Thanks, I am perfectly capable of realizing that a group is made up of individuals.

I personally had the experience of being W-Hat's neighbor and I am well aware of your group's rather unfriendly tactics about buying and controlling land in Baku. I have no interest in disbanding your group whatsoever, but I do think that you are incredibly inconsiderate neighbors that use passive aggression to get what you want (in this case, land).

You stick ugly things on your land which overlap onto Anshe's land. She makes noise about it and you move it, but you never really admit that your stuff was on her land at all, you just try to make it seem as though she was mistaken.

You buy the land all around me and stick ban lines and incredibly unnattractive builds on them.

True, nothing you guys do is one way or the other. It's passive aggression and it's COWARDLY.

You spend more time thinking up excuses -- and they really are very plausible ones -- than you do thinking about other people. So ... I don't have a "vendetta" against your group -- I just don't want anyone to believe that you were for one second clueless about anything. Everyone who builds stuff knows how easy it is to move a cube, rotating or otherwise, off someone else's land.

That still doesn't make it acceptable, simply because it's a continued behavior. As I said before, what they do on their own land is their own business (wether we like it or not, what can you do?). But what they do on other peoples land is not acceptable.

Honestly. With that kind of money it seems you could dispatch your own enemies, and do it creatively too! (as a warning to others). If I had that kind of money I would keep a few Lindens on the payroll at all times...just in case.

The definition of Extortion:

Although I do not agree with what W-hat is doing. I fail to see how "extortion" comes into the picture. This kind of thing happens daily in SL. Its called "grieving" not extortion, because they would have to be outwardly doing illegal things. If the items overlap, delete them. If the harassment continues, report abuse.

Understandably, they want you to buy land back at an outrageous price. Not cool. You are not alone on this one Ashne. Had anyone else posted here, they would get the same old "It's their land and they can do what they want".

You have alot of money and that makes you a target. I am quite sure that you conduct your business within the rules. You have no more and no less power than anyone else in this matter.

I came to the forums on my first day of SL, and one of the very first threads I saw was a whole lot of people attacking Anshe for something she may or may not have done.
That was quite a while ago, and now, coming back after a long absence, I see it's the same...
I stopped reading at the 6th page or so, but it was nice to see people apologizing to her, and realizing that, whatever she may have done in the past and however much money she might have, she doesn't deserve to have this happen to her, no one does.
