IF (and this is a big if) it's being looked for. Also AIS is not by any stretch the only form of intersexuality and as sexual organs aren't even differentiated until AFTER the first trimester it's a safe bet that diagnosis of AIS during weeks 9-12 would be accidental at best At 16 weeks it MIGHT be detected --again if one were looking for it specifically, and as you say , it is generally not unless there is a family history of AIS. Considering that neither the mother or father would have AIS, and that intersexuality is still a very much "hidden" condition (even from the patient themselves) it is very rarely looked for. But I'll rely on your googling skills rather thyan my own extensice research into my own condition.

From: Kiamat Dusk So it's "uncommon" for a father to be a better or at least as good a parent as a mother? Sexist much? It's incredible how much chauvanism women get away with when it comes to this topic. This is why when I'm out alone with my kids everyone is like "Oh, I see you're babysitting!" Oh, gee-I thought I was parenting! Children are best off when both parents play an active role in their raising. Each parent plays a different, but no less significant role in their development. And having a womb doesn't give women some sort of biological leg up on the parenting skills. Think about what you're saying. Carry this through and you're implying that male/male couples are less fit to be parents as well. I don't think your Lefty buddies would be too thrilled about that little theory. -Kiamat Dusk Ummm project much? He did not say that fathers are poor parents, nor did he imply anything about male/male couples....

From: Kendra Bancroft with the exception that two parents are needed to raise a child, I find myself agreeing with this completely. One parent of either gender (providing the parent is a caring thoughtful nurturer) is just fine. Dear god --when will all this agreeing with Kiamat end for me. I can't stand it. I said that two parents were "ideal". We seem to be halfway in line with the whole before and after pregnancy...it's the inbetween part.... -Kiamat Dusk PS: Kendra and Kevn need to get their own thread!

From: Sally Rosebud Ummm project much? He did not say that fathers are poor parents, nor did he imply anything about male/male couples.... Oops! I've been reading the name as "Amanda" all this time. I'm just so used to typos, my mind automatically corrects them. Sorry, if I got your gender wrong, Ananda. Man, and I just found out that Lektor is a woman...and a hawt one at that! Crimeny, I'm battin' a thousand with these genders tonight. However, it doesn't change the validity of my statement. Ananda said "In many cases a child might be better off with her father instead of her mother. But this is uncommon..." IE: It's uncommon for a father to be a better parent than the mother. I'd also like to take this moment to point out that no less person than the Steel Kitten herself said she "completely agrees" with me on this post 'cept for the two parent part. So if you wanna take on Kendra, go right ahead, but don't let the velvet glove fool ya. -Kiamat Dusk

Hijacked!
03-13-2006 19:05
Ok, so I'm hijacking my own thread here just to get a few things straight...or not as the case may be. Lecktor-are you a lesbian then? I'm asking cuz of your sig and the J-cutie you posted in another thread-not that straight women can't appreciate J-cuties, too. Kendra-are you a lesbian? I'm just asking cuz I had the impression you were-possibly due to a bias based on my earlier believe that you were transgendered. All my perceptions have been shattered... ...but abortion is still wrong! -Kiamat Dusk

From: Kevn Klein It usually runs in families, so they test for it early. Considering diagnosis of AIS is often hidden from the patient by Doctor's who think it would be too "traumatic" for someone to learn they were intersexed, and further knowing that someone with AIS wouldn't get pregnant --how do you figure the issue would even come up? Geeeez it's like quail hunting on a canned farm with you.

To summarize:
Women get all the rights when it comes to choosing parenthood. They can have as much irresponsible sex as they wish without fear of becoming a parent.
Men have no rights, only obligations. Men can only choose abstinence to avoid parenthood and at least 18 years of supporting a child..
This is very fair according to the feminists.
