If it should be MANDATORY to consult the father. After all 'I said to get an abortion' doesn't fly in child support payments in court.

Sorry hon, you can't win on that one if you want equality.

1. Well, when you get a uterus and I get a penis, then maybe we can have true equality, till then STFU!

2. Do NOT call me 'hon'! You have no right to call me that, you do not know me. I do have a name, you're allowed to use that.

How many men would suddenly decide after faking support for their girlfriends or wife to have the child decide to up and leave when she is late in her pregnancy and change their story to "but I wanted her to have an abortion" to get out of paying child support?

Should there be new laws where the man must state early in the female's pregnancy or when it is discovered that she is pregnant that he wants to give up parental rights?

You got to give him time to get his CDs t-shirts and other valueables out of the apartment before breaking the news. If he just came out and said it there's no telling what might happen to some of his prized possesions.

Azazel thats what this thread was about originally.

Sally, Us switching sexes doesn't change whats equal. A man should have to give his opinion early, and it should be mandatory both the mother and father agree before a nonmedical/rape/etc abortion takes place. Its only fair to the father.

would this system apply for married couples, Jonas, or only for unmarried ones?

Still going I see.

Let's sum things up for those who don't want to read the whole thread.

1. Keep it in your pants/Keep your legs closed...goes both ways.
2. All this talk about safe, legal, and rare. How exactly do you propose to make abortion rare? Sounds like a rouse to me-something to make yourselves feel better for turning a blind eye to infanticide.
3. Fathers have rights, too-they're just being ignored by the pro-abortion faction and unfortunately the US legal system.
4. They're plenty of ways to make the opt-out/opt-in thing stick. A father should have the right to opt-in to parenthood, ie: stop the mother from aborting the baby but he should be tightly legally bound so as to prevent this from being used as some sort of BS revenge tactic. Same goes for opting-in for child support. If he says he's going to support the child should the mother decide to keep it-he needs to be bound like a straight jacket so he can't opt-out after the baby arrives.
5. Non medically necessary abortions should be illegal (but the MAP should be widely available), however while women still have the right to opt out of parenthood biologically, men should have the right to opt out financially prior to the baby's birth so long as he is aware of the pregnancy. No fair having the baby without the father's knowledge then hitting up for support.
6. The pro-abortionists keep chanting "if you don't have a womb, STFU", yet Kendra keeps talking.

What you seem to fail to grasp, is that your solution is not equal either. It's never going to be equal. So keep your damn laws off my body!

dude,

"Let's sum things up for those who don't want to read the whole thread." and then posting your feelings on this obviously devisive issue isn't only bad form, it's an outright attempt to mislead people. Thumbs down.

You have a point, so that takes a day or two and if he wants to get away immediately, while she is out of the house or apartment with the help of your friends...hours!

I feel sorry for men who pay child support for years only to find out the child really wasn't their child. Dna tests should be mandatory apon arrival of the baby. Men should have the right to give up parental rights if they did not want to be a father but within a set limit of time to avoid fathers who change their minds when they claimed they wanted to be supportive. The father then won't have to pay child support for a baby they did not want and won't have to see the baby.

In the future, we can all live selfishly, get rid of reproduction alltogether and clone instead so women won't have to be the bearers of children and men won't have to pay child support. Party forever and give up responsibility! It's a burden for us alllllll!

How many times must we tell you that we are not pro-abortionists? Show me where I've said I want abortions to happen? Show me where anybody said they want abortions to happen? Making abortion illegal is not going to stop them despite what you zealots think. You make them rare with education, lots of straightforward education.

Hmmm... body, wallet.. what a comparison. I see what is important to you. I also have not said anything about having mandatory laws making you pay child support.

I think alot of people like to believe pre-martial sex did not occur in the 1950's and forget how many women had to go through illegal abortions and mostly because of pressures of their boyfriends, society, the thought of illegitimate children..that branded label that deemed that child as "Illegitimate" and the hardships caused by illegal abortions.

Its about rights. Mens rights are violated when they don't get a choice..just a demand for child support. Or the feeling of betrayl from soemone aborting their child.

If my fiance got pregnant by me and had an abortion wihtout consulting me..I would leave her. Simple as that.

The fact you were born a woman with a womb does not change the facts. It isn't about money..you want total contorll of your body? fine. You want to abort without the faters agreement? go head. Want to keep it thout the agreement? Support it yourself.

That whole pro-choice vs. pro-abortion rouse is just another transparent cop-out to make your cause more palatable. It's like saying "I don't support murdering unborn children, but I think a woman should have the right. I really wish she wouldn't...but if she's gonna do it anyway, let's make it safe."

How about this? I'm pro-choice when it comes to rape. I personally would never rape someone, and I would rather no one else did, but if it's gonna happen, let's try to make as safe for both parties as possible.

Not so appealing when you lay it all out. That's why you have to pretty up-package it correctly. You have to wrap it up in your sparkly PC Newspeak so people don't realize what is going on.

You're not supporting abortion, you're supporting "reproductive rights".

You're not delivering the baby up to it's neck then sucking its brain out...you're having a "dialation and extraction" or better yet, a "D&E".

You're not advocating forcing salt into the fetus' lungs to kill it, but "Saline Amniocentesis" is just fine.

"Suction-aspiration" sounds much better than "inserting a hollow plastic suction tube into the placenta. The strong suction tears the baby to pieces as it is suctioned out."

And "dilation and curettage" or "D&C" sounds much less barbaric than "Abortive procedure where the abortionists inserts a curved knife into the placenta and cuts the baby up into pieces before it is suctioned out. Done in the first trimester."

These are the "rights" you're standing for. Why hide it? Aren't you proud? Everytime a tiny corpse is thrown into the trash, the bells of women's freedom toll. You should carry the remains down Main Street USA declaring "Look at how far we've come!"

Oh, we should also outlaw alcohol, drugs, cars, motorcycles, boats, airplanes, guns, baseball bats, knives... they all contribute to death.
