From: Euterpe Roo Dear Jake,
Who the hell am I?
Sincerely Confused You ask the easy questions, don't you. Sorry this slipped through the cracks, but rountine re-reading brought it back to life. The simple answer is that ou are exactly who you are. You are not who you think you are, and you are not who everyone elses thinks you are. Thi think who you are is not not be who you are because thinking about who you are creates a you that is out side a you. Also since we are all Part of the great Zen then who you are in divorced from who I am or who billy bob thompson is. Thus you are me and I am you and we are both billy bob and he is us. Who you thinking you are is just a perception. Like seeing the top of a wave and not calling it part of the ocean. Also who you are is not who you were. Nor is it who you will be. It is who you are now. Except that if you think about who you are now the person that you think of is no longer you. You are not your expereinceces because they happend, or are ahppening or a about to happen. So anyone who tells you we are the sum of our experience is lying and shoud spend more time thinking about who THEY are. You are not your beleifs or our thoughts any more than you are your chair or your can opener. You are not your name, because thaty is just a description of who you you think you are and who others think you are. A name is nothing more than a spell that binds us. Really though only you can answer the question of who you are.

Just a couple...
What... is the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow?
When will the native Linux SL client be released?
What is the approximate timetable for SL to include Havok 3?
Who do I talk to about getting a spanking from Willow Z?

Who do I talk to about getting a spanking from Willow Z? 1. the average cruising airspeed velocity of an unladen European Swallow is roughly 11 meters per second, or 24 miles an hour. 2. the native linux SL client will never be released. Sl is going to be sold to microsoft as soon as it becomes obvious that the the3 whole metaverse thing is viable. Noone wants a nother netscape..sell out early and often. 3. Some time after havok 5 is released. SL is a platform for making money, not a game. 4. Me. I hand out the spankings in this thread, and no you can't have one from Willow Z. *Spanks you for even asking*

If Superman can turn coal to diamonds in his hands, can he turn marshmallows to bone in his ass?

How are you?
MJ I am well. Thank you for asking. A better question is who am I? But that becomes philosophical. So an even better question is who are you?

From: Chance Abattoir If Superman can turn coal to diamonds in his hands, can he turn marshmallows to bone in his ass? No. Marshmallows have no calcium and are not the same stuff as bone. Superman is strong. Diamond are simply crystalized carbon, whcih occures as a result of pressure. Thus supperman can effect a change in condition. His ass, however, is not a font of alchemy, and he canno transmut marchmallow to bone.

From: MJ Hathor If I answer this question, am I going to get a spanking for not asking a question? No, if you can answer this question then you are either enlightened, in which case you don't need a spanking, or living in a world of veils, in which case you may not yet be ready for the lesson a spanking has to impart.

No. I hand out the spankings around here, and allow a few of my trusty loyal posters to spank those who brake the rules, and a few who deserve it just because. I fyou want to start a fun and amusing forum, start one called Grim Spanks anyone! Off topic is crying out for a spanking forum.
Flagelletion, self or otherwise seems most popular around here. But I assure you, no matter how pleasurable it may be to some. In my forum spankings are for breaking the rules. It might however, amuse me and my loyal readers, if she spanks you. Hmmmm food for thought.

Wow. A moment of reflection and thanks.
I just noticed that Ask Jake Anything is #6 in the off topic replies category (the top five are of course games!) and #6 in the views category (again behing the games). In truth I never imagined so many people would contribute to my amusement. You all have come up with some wonderful questions, and been very good sports about my sometimes obnoxious replies, and some of you have obviously just been lurking and not asking questions (If I find out about you-be prepared to spend time in collette's spanking chair!).
I want to thank you all for participating, all of you have contributed to my amusment and education. Thanks.
Jake.

Great thread Jake Really interesting stuff is thrown at ya here Here is a multi part question for you: Considering that the colors we see such as reds, blues, whites are created by the addition or subtraction of certain light frequencies. Being that is the case, wouldn't what we call the color black actually be the absence of light? Also, since adding all of the light frequencies creates the color white then could it be considered fullness of light? If this is the case, wouldn’t the absence of color really be clear then by definition, as there is nothing there to emit or absorb light frequencies in turn allowing the complete light spectrum to pass through it in effect not creating a color per say but is instead a color all it's own?

Black is no a absecence of light, it is the absorption of all light. White on the other hand is more like a fullness of light, since it is a reflection of all light. Still to use the terms absence and fullness is not qute the same since lthe light is present, it is just being reflected or absorbed. The absece of light is darkness. this is not black, it is dark, though it resembels back, dark is not a color, but a condition. It is also true of transparencey. Transparency is a property of an object, a quality. Transparencey is the property of allowing light to pass through, and is thus not a color at all. Tranparency is exclusive of color, whereas black and white are conditions of color. So you are closer in saying that transparency is an absence of color than you are in saying its a color all its own.

Hello Jake!
I stopped lurking after you offered the spankings, and because I have been wondering about something for a while: Why do people think that those that are good w/numbers, science, etc. are smarter than those that are good w/languages, creativity, etc.? Where did this misconception come from?
Thanks! Leilany (good with languages)
