Why not ask yourself this: if it was your home, at which point would you put down your weapons and say, "Oh well, I give up, go ahead and take over. Kill my kids, let my grandma die of a diabetic coma because her insulin spoiled in my useless fridge, whatever. I'm done."? When would -you- give up, if you thought everything that mattered to you was on the line? You are totally, totally missing the point. This is not analogous to the French resistence in WWII, where insurrection had a noble and realistic goal. This kind of terrorism accomplishes nothing other than perpetuating the misery of the Iraqi people. So it's not when would I stop, it's that I wouldn't start at all. It is an idiotic approach. At best it is sort of a poison pill to discourage future operations. Don't try to take us over or we will kill ourselves and destroy our own country. If you're a ballsy guy, I would say never. Or it would take an awful lot to get to that point. My father was a Green Beret, and I know for a fact that he'd die before giving up. And he'd take a lot of 'bad guys' with him before doing so. If your Dad chooses to fight a worthless cause for a dubious principle against an occupying army/nation that is trying to help, ..., well then your Dad is a fool. A ballsy fool, but still a fool. The Iraqi people are being manipulated by their religious and ethnic leaders into fighting us and each other, not for the benefit of the people, but for the benefit of those leaders. The average Iraqi would be far, far better off accepting the new government than fighting against it. |

Safety is worth nothing with freedom diminished. I'm sorry, Groucho --But I grew up in the USA. "A man who would give up a little bit of freedom for a little bit of security deserves neither, and will lose both." -Benjamin Franklin Once again, y'all are missing the point. Why are Americans the only ones these words apply to? |

Once again, y'all are missing the point. Why are Americans the only ones these words apply to? They aren't. But when has a US Military action ever actually delivered freedom to anything since WWII? The word "freedom" just gets shoved into describing the Mideast Campaign to detract from the real reasons behind it: Oil and a display of power. _____________________

Who said they are? You, Corvus, Sera, et al. You say it over and over, then when I call you on it you're like "wha?". And we're back to square one. So either grow up or find someone smarter and more sincerely interested in a rational discussion to carry on your cause for you if you want me to respond (which, I'm sure you don't). |

I have two requests:
1. Stop using "farking" or any other fake swear words. It makes you sound ... uneducated, and it undercuts any points you are trying to make. 2. Please provide factual support for your claims, I am not saying that you are wrong, but your points will be stronger if you include fact (and URLs). |

I never said that. Other countries have the right to those things as well. And they're free to get them. I've said that it shouldn't be us trying to give it to them/shove it on them. _____________________

I never said that. Other countries have the right to those things as well. And they're free to get them. I've said that it shouldn't be us trying to give it to them/shove it on them. and It helps for them to WANT the same way of life we have. Which, they don't. In fact, they despise it and consider it rather unholy. Similar arguments were used to fuel the Crusades, Groucho. You know, the attempt to assert Christendom in the same area we're fighting now that failed rather miserably? So do Iraqis deserve democracy and the same freedom from racial, religious, gender and sexual orientation discrimination just as we do? Or not? |

If our government was interested in spreading democracy... Darfur would not have what it has right now. But there's no money in saving Darfur. _____________________

Deserve having it shoved down their throats at gun point? no --they don't. BTW --it's not freedom if they don't choose it. Much like you no longer choose freedom. _____________________

If our government was interested in spreading democracy... Darfur would not have what it has right now. But there's no money in saving Darfur. I give up, there's only so many times you can answer the same questions and this one has been answered in at least two different ways in this thread alone. It's like playing whack-a-mole with you guys. |
