Rather new to the game and forums but as for the topic of this thread. If the person was asked to pick an avatar they should have picked an avatar. Of course if it were that big of a deal to the forum owners they should have setup the forum to either use a default avatar or force the choice at account creation.

Private boards which tout themselves as a haven from draconian moderators. Now we have Prokofy not only being moderated, he is being banned off the place because the forums regulars want him to get an avatar. Do you really expect people to believe that charade Viavanne? This is a way to silence him because you all know you couldn't do it by just outright banning him like they did here because "freedom" is supposedly paramount over there. So some of you cooked up this avatar business, enlisted the site owner, and did it that way. Mulch got high, and, in his haze, thought it would be funny to post about it over here, because we all know he orchestrated it, he is oh so proud of his accomplisment and wants reinforcement attention. You all should be ashamed of yourselves for breaking your own *principles*. Now that's a conspiracy theory, if I ever saw one. You sure do seem to know a lot about Prokofy for someone so new. I guess researching the forums is helpful. Tossing my $.02 in: who cares. If Prokofy is so against the idea of abiding by two simple rules, Prokofy should setup his own forums and create his own rules. Even if what you say is true, the site owner is doing nothing wrong. It is their site - they set the rules, if you don't like them, move on. _____________________

I am not new. I was here well before Prokofy and before you too. My mistake - the date on your forum avatar is misleading. Older than me? That *is* old. ![]() I got what I wanted Juro, I got people to talk about it. Sorry if that scares you. It doesn't scare me, open dialogue is good, but I thought I'd share my thoughts on it. _____________________

It was a running joke that the owner is now considering turning into a rule after his favorites decided to make a thread to select a *fucktard* avatar for one of their *equals*. Prok is not our equal. He has said on numerous occasions that he is superior to us. I found the fucktard avatar quite flattering for him! _____________________

Well, I went to secondcitizen with all hopes of it being a reasonable replacement for the forums. It is, in a way. Its all the bits I didn't like here all wrapped up in a nice neat little package. The tone goes a bit beyond what I find acceptable so I'm going to take my burning ears elsewhere. My choice to make. YMMV and I don't begrudge anyone else the choices they make.
Have a nice day, everyone! Char _____________________

I finally got on, and there's only one message on general discussion that's from today--and that's "help guides". Not very active, and no wonder, the server is really really really slow, and to get a membership one can't just "sign up", they have to go through several steps That's quite allright. I'll check that forum once in a while, but it doesn't look very promising. As I said, we are still fairly new and setting ourselves up - but with the announcement of the forum closing we are doing all we can to get things set up and ready to give people a viable alternative to the 'official forums'. There was a technical issue earlier today but I'm told that has now been fixed - and certainly everything seems ok from my end. Everyone gets a little downtime, correct? The 'two step sign up' is quite common, and is partly for your own protection - there is a system to prevent people making multiple accounts and trolling, then coming back again and again when they've been banned. It helps maintain integrity and quality. We do plan on more widely announcing ourselves and hopefully recruiting more staff in the near future. It's the subject of internal discussions right now. Hope to see you there soon. Lewis _____________________

Prejudice anyone? Lewis Lewis, I think people knowing which forum you chose to use when this one closes pretty much guarentee's you won't be seeing anyone from here posting there. Moderating? Whole blocks of people? Where else would Lewis choose to take up residence on a new forum. Love long in your work Lewis. I hope you have fun ![]() _____________________

Requirement of an Avatar on a forum is *Thee worst* rule Ive ever heard.. is SC run by teenagers? heh.. probably >.>
also, with a large influx of new SL members going to SC when these close.. I imagine the Clique will start moderating more and more in order to maintain their superior status on said boards.. mark my words. _____________________

It was slow for several days and it is still very slow, albeit faster than it was earlier today. I'm on a lot of forums and I've never ran across a site where "sign up" requires an address and credit card number, and the free signup is not available until you go through two menus. Sorry, not buying that. People are not going to bother. I generally try to stay away from sites that 1. Overmoderate 2. Are slow 3. Have very few posts Have a good time, and thanks for trying to show me a new site, but I'll stick with SC. ![]() Didn't stop you signing up though. Ever thought that every forum is quiet until people start posting on it? As I said before, the billing details are purely for the Stratics Plus service, an optional set of additional posting options (such as multiple avatars and signatures) which are not required if you just want a regular psoting experience. How can you tell Stratics overmoderates when you haven't posted there yet? Don't go on others experience, for example I once heard that the friend of the neighbour of the milkman of the sister of the guy who runs SC .... you get my point? Personally I think it's foolish to discard an alternative simply because of what other people have said - I'd rather find out for myself. Lewis _____________________

Lewis, I think people knowing which forum you chose to use when this one closes pretty much guarentee's you won't be seeing anyone from here posting there. I am registered and post on Second Citizen.... doesn't stop people looking there does it? Moderating? Whole blocks of people? Where else would Lewis choose to take up residence on a new forum. So far this claim has not been proven by the accuser, therefore I wouldn't let it influence your decision. Remember that the Sims Online boards - which many came from - had extra rules because they were the official TSO forums, and added by EA - but these only bought it in line with the previous EA run forums so it's not like it's anything new or unusual. By following the rules (which really aren't any different from here, just applied fairly) then you won't fall foul of the moderators. There's a novel concept! I've been with Stratics for nearly 3 years, so it's not like I've just picked it out of the air - it's "home". Love long in your work Lewis. I hope you have fun ![]() Of course I enjoy working there, otherwise why would I be doing it? It's an honour and a privilege to continue helping new players, in the same way that I successfully did in TSO for nearly three years. Lewis _____________________

Lewis, I'll stop by once in a while to see how it's going there, but it's not going to be a normal hangout for me.

Lewis, I'll stop by once in a while to see how it's going there, but it's not going to be a normal hangout for me. But if people do that on every forum... none would ever get any traffic! Why not at least post in the 'introduction thread'? Remember activity breeds activity. I'm quite sure that there will be a lot of 'forum shopping' over the next month or so whilst people figure out what their alternatives are. Then people will tend to congregate around the best ones, and others will just disappear. Lewis _____________________

I am a member of SC SLU and Stratics.
Currently i post more at SC, than anywhere else, however, I still read the others, and if traffic picks up at either of them, ill post. I can see myself active on all 3. _____________________

Which of SC's two rules would you find it hard to adhere to: 1. No spam 2. Get an avatar I'm just curious because you agree to an entire page of rules here (the TOS). Yet you find adhereing to two rules over there a hardship. Why is that? \ The get a Avatar because it serves absolutly no purpose and so it appears to be a arbitrary rule |

OK, I think that I will go over there, when I get the time, and start some threads that are a little more controversial and meaty than the threads I saw there last time I looked. That will give us something to chew on and perhaps spice those boards up. I was pretty careful on them to begin with, but they've had enough time now to settle in, and it's probably time for something a little more substantial. _____________________

Again, getting an avatar was not a rule at SC, and still isn't, at the time of this writing.

I'm just curious because you agree to an entire page of rules here (the TOS). Yet you find adhereing to two rules over there a hardship. Why is that? Why is dealing with someone without an avatar such a *hardship*? *Why is that?* *So we can tell who is posting* is not the right answer. That's a lame ass excuse and quite frankly insulting as hell for Kendra and others to claim that that's the reason, when it's quite clear that the real reason is that you all just wanted to tack a *fucktard* avie onto Prokofy. Grow the fuck up kiddies. You've been caught acting like foaming at the mouth 14 year olds, now own it. If y'all are as tough as you posture yourselves to be, surely you can just admit that you let a joke go too far with the assistance of the forum admin/owner. Yeah, so now you're all softening on the *get an avatar or post somewhere else* schtick. It's still wrong what you did, and you know it -- you reek of that knowledge. That stench comes from the very nature of your posts and the posts of the other *I'm cool, you drool!* kids. |
