Private boards which tout themselves as a haven from draconian moderators. Now we have Prokofy not only being moderated, he is being banned off the place because the forums regulars want him to get an avatar. Do you really expect people to believe that charade Viavanne? This is a way to silence him because you all know you couldn't do it by just outright banning him like they did here because "freedom" is supposedly paramount over there. So some of you cooked up this avatar business, enlisted the site owner, and did it that way. Mulch got high, and, in his haze, thought it would be funny to post about it over here, because we all know he orchestrated it, he is oh so proud of his accomplisment and wants reinforcement attention. You all should be ashamed of yourselves for breaking your own *principles*. Prok didn't comply and and one was assigned. Prok had the ability to remove it and did. It was nothing more than that. Now we have this big shill going on, where a mountain was made of a mole-hill accusing SC forums of unspeakable things like banning Prok, IP sharing, removing freedoms, conspiring to control others and all the usual crap. Actually, Katy, in the admin screen of forum software, you can access the a user's profile setting as an administrative option. Depending on the forum software, you can change various settings such as their title, user name, time zone, signature, etc. It does not involve logging into the forums as their account. It's not a privacy breach to administer a user's account. While I don't agree with the forced assigning of an avatar, I also do not agree with making more out of the issue than needs to be made. In order to post as someone, the admin would actually have to log into the account to do so, it is not possible to create posts through an admin screen. None of that occured, he simply assigned a rude avatar. Poor choice? Yeah. Much ado about nothing? Yeah. _____________________

This breach of privacy concerns me more than any issue, and should concern any user of that forum. want to clear something up here, because this is wrong. i didn't log into PN's account. that is an impossibility without someone's password. which, as an admin, i do not have access to. you can verify this at vbulletin.com by requesting an admin demo of the software. passwords are not even represented by ********. they are invisible. logging into anyones account is not only a waste of my time, but not possible to do unless they pass their PW to me. changing someone's avatar doesn't require me logging in with their account. you do that from the admin panel. kthxbye _____________________
