The owner/admin of this third party forum has, at the behest of some popular, regular forum members forced an avatar on Prokofy Neva by logging into his account and selecting one chosen for him by said forum members. Prokofy was told to get an avatar or they would choose one for him, and that if he didnt use one, either of their choice or his, that he could no longer post there. This is an excuse to get rid of a person they don't like. The irony is that some of these same people have claimed in the past that they were against Prokofy being silenced on these official SL forums, yet here they are using his choice to not have an avatar as as an excuse to get rid of him. So much for principles. http://forums.secondcitizen.com/showpost.php?p=24970&postcount=16

Now she comes back (as Ms. Gallileo) to these forums here --where she is a banned presence and seeks to undermine a third party site presumably to bolster her own forum site "police blotter" where she collects tidbits of "crimes" committed against her. Prok, baby --you have officially become unglued.

Obviously, being new I have no idea what the issues are. However, being experienced in online communities very similar to Second Life, I say let other forums stay where they are. If I wanted to read a different forum I would be there. Forum politics should not be cross polinated IMHO.

Ahh ... but since these are closing any minute ... those others are where we will be ... or at least some of us. So as I am about to be homeless here, and as a soon-to-be forum refuge, I read the OP as providing a warning about the draconian environment in at least one of the spots on my relocation list. I expect to see quite a bit "cross polination" as inhabitants of this soon to be closed facility look for new homes.

Again, coming in at a time like this it is very hard to judge the current political atmosphere. If anyone needs a home, the people at my site are setting up Second Life functionality. Is a great group of gamers and everyone is welcome. Just send me a PM if anyone wants an invite.

Is prokofy a horrible presence on the SC forums? Yep.
But so are the rest of us.
I do find it humorous, though, that for all of the moderator/owner's "tolerance" of not banning anyone on the SC forums, giving an ultimatum of clowning prok up or booting her off the island is hypocritical and stupid.
If you're going to allow unfettered access, you have to take the bad with the good. You can't pick and choose who stays in a "free" environment.
On the other hand, I called it that Prok would be the first person banned on SC.
I suppose I win the Internet.

On an unrelated note....Prok's 'SL Community Police blotter' has instituted a rule on their very own forums that all users must do the same.

Stratics Second Life - http://sl.stratics.com - has no politics, and would love to see you there. Drop by my land for a free Stratics link-through console to take you directly to the forums. The Stratics Internet Cafe is down the bottom of the hill across the street from Laserquest. Lewis

Lewis Isn't the Stratics company well known for censoring whole blocks of people at a time for various posts? I do believe the Sims Online community was up in arms about it, and possibly the Ultima Online community.

I do believe the Sims Online community was up in arms about it, and possibly the Ultima Online community. As with any decent forum there are moderators and rules to follow... but I can't honestly say I am aware of that kind of action taking place on the TSO forums, because that's the one I have been involved in in depth. There's nothing wrong with Stratics being a 'general' gaming site with game-specific forums - after all, most of us probably came here from other online games, and what better opportunity to recruit other players who are already online gamers, with good computers and internet connections, than a multi game forum site? ok there are two sides to every story. Prok's alt is telling her side of the story. SecondCitizen doesn't have many rules. Really it doesn't. A lot less than this and a lot less than Lewis' beloved Stratics (which does have politics despite his thinking it doesn't). As a matter of fact, I believe SC has two rules: 1. Don't spam. 2. Get an avatar. That's it. Not so hard really to do either. I mean you all put up with a lot more here. Furthermore these are private boards. There are other places Prok could go if he felt he couldnt' handle the no avatar. But see, for him, not getting an avatar was a personal challenge to the owners of that board. He even made a post about saying he wasn't going to get an avatar and there was nothing the board owners could do about it and issued it as a challenge for them to do something about it. ( http://forums.secondcitizen.com/showpost.php?p=24970&postcount=16) When you say to someone "I double dare you to do X" -- don't be surprised if that person ups and responds to the dare! Geesh. And Alex didn't bow to pressure. He's just as much a fan of avatars as anyone else. Once again Prokofy presents you with a half-truth and its 'awww poor Prok'. I fell for that too. But there's more to this sob story than meets the eye.

And yet, SC has exactly 2 rules and you think that is too stringent for people to follow. Imagine that! From: Lewis Nerd As with any decent forum there are moderators and rules to follow... Lewis

Lewis It's akin to checking my email and having 4 out of the 5 messages being spam. I'm not interested, but I can't turn them off. Solution? Stop using that site. And you've gotta be crazy; the TSO censorship was a big brouhaha in the early days of the Second Life Herald; heck, it's THE reason the SLH covers SL now instead of TSO!

Prok isn't banned from SC.
Prok should just put a freakin black square in there and be done with it. It's just a freakin' tiny picture.
