We made a giant spinning Dancecarrot (like a danceball but a bit more vegetably). It's about the only thing that made it in world and didn't get stuck at the being-screamed-at stage.
Can you see the awesome 3D modelling powers at work here? Just awesome.

Time to bake some sculpties... Using layered shaders, textureshaders, rampshaders, anisoshaders, bumpmaps and specularity in Maya. (e.g. a material network that's making my computer creak... )

Sculpty Couch
05-30-2007 19:41
My first attempt at a simple sculpty couch without too many lumps & bumps. Arm rests are regular prims, because of the pole texturing difficulty. Cushions and pillows are sculpties.

To test out both sculpties and Maya, I made about 6 or 8 fully textured sculpties and combined these parts to some kind of a volcanic cave with glowing mushrooms growing on the ceiling. It was fun - I thought Maya would've been harder to learn.

From: Camie Cooper I want this! Is anyone selling any of these!? If this couch is for sale somewhere lemme know! These are all amazing! LOL Yes it will be up for sale in about 7 hours in my shop. But besides this blatant advertising, what I like to do most with sculpties is to make them look like normal prims. When I was experimenting, I had some visitors on my land that didn't even see that the couch was made of sculpties. It looked too normal. And exactly that was my greatest challenge: to reduce lumps and bumps and make sculpties look like regular prims. But with one HUGE difference: rounded edges. It won't win me a prize in the sculpty competition though. Btw Drake, wonderfull cave you made. Awesome!

Great work, Drake!

Leopard Sculpted Prim Multi-Purpose toilet/sink

The base, sink, toilet, faucet and bottle(not sure if you can see the bottle) is sculpted prims. I haven't figured out yet how to make sculpted prim toilet paper yet.

I had to get in on the fun. Witness my sculpty pump bed. ^_^
Thank god UV maps work. I can't wait to do more complex texturing.

From: Dnali Anabuki Thanks FD, I seem to be going thru a fountain addiction at the moment. I just can't stop making them. I understand. I have some I made that look like that though gee these make really nice water fountains or 1 prim sculptures if I could figure out some unique multi-level looking texturing on one prim surface. I have noticed with some of my earlier sculpted prims they are doing something weird like one second it's regular shape few monents later it changes. Also when they are rezzing it looks like they are eggs when it rezzes its like the eggs hatch new shapes and forms.

But seriously, I have had the situation that during a build, when I do a scultpy, the torus I just used looks very strange.

But seriously, I have had the situation that during a build, when I do a scultpy, the torus I just used looks very strange. Inworld in my pics or classified I have a Sculpted Prim garden. I have several sculpted prims with full permission sculpted prim textures inside for the price of upload cost. My friend told me reason why it flips is because I crossed the blue bar to red area making it transparent. She didn't think it was good thing. I am not sure personally it does make interesting animated changing shapes. Though the intial shapes I didn't understand about the import/export so I don't have the numbers. I have figured out tables and bowls if you need any numbers or what not let me know. Rokuro is so easy to use, yet I am not sure what the limitations except it has to be oval. It hit and miss for me personally when I make something right now with the Rokuro because I am still trying to understand the math behind the shapes. Friend gave me little crash course on mathamatics of Cartesian Coordinates I put up some of my unedited notes in the garden. If you or anyone wants to check them out, can offer advise or needs help let me know. I am going to be offline though for most of weekend but if you need help or want to talk look me up and I will write you back.. Feel free Dnali to contact me when you have time and I share some of my numbers, etc. for free if you need help. I still can't figure out why Rokuro often doesn't like it when I try to reduce the size of certain shapes like the hat I accidentally made. LOL FD

Shack & Paulo: Thanks for the kind words. Shack, I've been an old Max user too. I didn't find it too hard to learn the parts of Maya that are relevant for making textured sculpties. You might want to give it a try, if the steep price tag of Maya is acceptable for you.

Hi everyone! Two days ago I had my first day here in second life and really wanted to try out the building and especially the sculpted prim system. Well, I was messing around a bit and felt like creating some kind of bed. It's mix of a few sculpted prims and some regular prims from the in-world building system. I could not afford to upload more than the bed and two pillows, because I'm a total newcomer as I already said. It took me a long time camping to gather the 30L$ needed for the upload. Bed: 1 Prim Pillows: 1 Prim Each (=2 Prims total) Lamp: 2 Prims Bedspred: 5 Prims ------------------------------------------ Total: 10 Prims Wish I had a bit more money, so that I could have had created a better looking bed with just abour 5 Prims. Thank you for that nice feature. EDIT: I tested how it looks like with four pillows (BED_004.JPG) and I like it a lot more than the version with two pillows. If I manage to get a few more L$ I will create some textures for the bed, too. The ones from the library do not really fit here as you can see.
