You can rent land from a private sim owner (another player) with a Basic or Premium account. But to buy land from the Lindens requires a Premium account. Why rent land? Well many sim owners maintain better quality control over their sims (Homeowner's Associations in a way) and offer better deals than the Lindens, but in on the downside you take an additional risk when renting from them.

This thread is starting to make me wonder if I can even come close to matching the quality of builds that are being showcased..

...Eh. I'm still under a month old. I got practice time. Anyway, here's my first building. It doesn't exist anymore, as I've *just* moved on to bigger property.

I did not build this house but I love it still. The middle is a Valadeza Anubis. The rest was added on by my friend Sebastian Tyne.

four levels now, but I can't save the whole thing in one shot due to lost packets. I tried in 2 sandbox and 3 different empty sims. The amout of lost packets goes through the roof when I select the >2000 prims and take it to inventory. Same thing happens when I take it out of inventory...

My newest home on the lake, still in the furnishing stage(does it ever end?) Had one posted previously, taken down and rebuilt, only to be lost in a huge click mistake by me
Decided to give the prefab market a try, and came across this 2 story home in kit form, By Scorpio Galatea. Country cozy, and just the right size for me.

Hi everyone!

So many lovely homes are on this thread that far outshine mine, but I'm quite proud of my first build.

I admit it's not very much, yet, but it's got doors that open and close, a fireplace, and I can sit down in it. I work on it only about 2-3 hours a week, my SL time is very limited.

This is on my rented parcel at Brown 122,237. Anyone know of any land in Boardman or Brown that might come available? I love the feel but there's for-sale land!

I don't know if this qualifies as a "home"... but it's as close as I have to one. DarkWood Castle. (You should see my BIG one in ElvenGlen. LOL).

This was my cottage (and goats) for quite some time, though I've removed it now (I get bored easily - and the goats kept glitching and getting returned to my lost and found three days later from some sim I'd never even heard of). Loved it to pieces but it was a bit too small to fit both yourself and your camera in.

Doublepost for my third home, the houseboat, which I will probably never see again - I didn't manage to pick it all up, so it's in all sorts of pieces in my inventory. I think I just prefer to look at the pictures than to ever try and figure out where the pieces go!

I managed to cram a seating area, kitchen/diner, bedroom and bathroom with a toilet and shower into that space, and it was surprisingly not-too-painful to navigate. Had to make 'fitted' furniture for it because of the curved floor which you can just see in the pics, and I never really developed it as far as I might have :( Ah well. Fun while it lasted.

Some of you anime admirers may recognize this one. :)

Finished with the exterior, but the interior is difficult so it's taking a lot longer to make...
