I would definitely get rid of the part about, "may therefore result in the SL Forum community not wishing to speak with you."

And again, I really don't think you should try to react to things people post someplace else on the Internet, or punish people here for what they post elsewhere.

The TOS should be for SL. Not one you expect to apply everywhere else, too.

coco

Coco, you and I seldom agree but I can fully agree with what you said here. Threats of a reaction in LL forums for something posted or said outside the LL forums is totally uncalled for. And if this is going to be enforced I can forsee many lawsuits.

point is depending on mood, situation, and interpretation any other statement / opinion / action could be taken as a personal attack

and if i am subject to these rules id like to know where the boundary are

Sounds reasonable to me.

Katt, 3 simple questions

When will the forum be updated?
From: Blog, 8/27
We will be introducing the new blog and forum enhancements in October. Until then, the blog will continue to be utilized for announcements, policy updates and introduction of new features.

http://blog.secondlife.com/2008/08/27/linden-lab-blog-changes-to-give-residents-more-choices/

When I read the entire blog post very carefully, I THINK the forum software may be updated in October, but I'm not sure. I'm quite sure the blog software will be updated then.

So, Katt, simple questions for you:

1. Will the forum software be upgraded at the same time the blog software is? If not, do you know when the forums will be upgraded?

2. I seem to remember seeing in a Linden post somewhere that the forums will be moving away from vBulletin, but I can't find the quote. Will the blog and forum software be one, integrated package? What forum software (and revision) will the forums be using, once you DO upgrade them?

3. I'll repeat my frequent question: if I do a search after the forum is upgraded, will pre-upgrade thread hits be shown in that set of results, along with post-upgrade thread hits? If not, and pre-upgrade content is archived separately, you will simply be preserving a corpse of the current content fora; the knowledge will be lost to those who need it most, new users.

As long as you link punishment in the forums to the actual software Second Life they are nothing to me and I won't be bothered to use them. Not that I expect to do something to elicit such punishment I just believe the two should be kept seperate.

Moderation should also be kept in house not farmed out.

Edit: Excluding this post of course to give my opinion.

We sometimes see people saying stuff like "I'm 14 but seem to be stuck on the main grid."

It'd be nice if the guidelines also addressed stuff like this. It's never really clear what the best way to deal with it is.

seriously, i reckon everyone should be happy ll havent made any move toward updating this forum. in theory it sounds nice, but in practice i think it would end in massive failure. if there is someway to do it wrong and piss everyone off, ll would surely take that route hey.
