I am sorry my brain is having mental packet loss. What was the thread about again? I got lost but I swear I thought I read everything. My inventory stole the memory of what I read. Wonder if I can sue someone? Gee wasn't I going to go to bed like few hours ago for few hours? I forgot that too. I guess I might as well stay up and say I don't know if there really is scientific proof of any you. I think you're all figment of sex starved imagination. LOL

From: FD Spark I am sorry my brain is having mental packet loss. What was the thread about again. I got lost but I swear I thought I read everything. It was an attempt by the OP to continue a debate where he put forth the idea that God or any other Spirtual beings do not exist and those who beleive they do are Mentally Ill and are mistreating their children. That if people would just stop believing in God and other Spiritual things, the world would somehow become a better place. Conveniently leaving out the fact that human nature would still exist in a world of athiests. Not to mention, as Carli pointed out - it would reduce the number of things you could say during sex. It wandered a bit about free speech and the forums, with a lot of people wondering where Strife is , since this is a Second Reposting. Finally we had a little US government debate thrown in, and lastly a bit of what cuases Sexuality to ice the cake (no pun intended).

Perhaps we just all needed little bit little naughty and get our debate on, have bit of silliness, perhaps have little of that strange thing called "social intercourse" instead of playing with our prims or shopping before Strife closes the threads?

That's an interesting perspective, Rei. I don't personally agree with it though. I don't consider belief to be seperate from opinion. I might convince myself so strongly of something, or the evidence of something might seem so inarguable to me, that certain of my opinions may feel immutable, but they aren't. They haven't changed into something beyond the realm of opinion, and opinions are choices. At least that's how I look at it. Other people's opinions may differ. And yeah, I'm not doing a very good job of bowing out of this discussion am I? Damn you interesting topic!

I never said a belief wasn't an opinion - in fact, it is pretty much by definition. But that doesn't mean it's a choice.
Believe (heh) me. I would not have chosen to be gay and religious, both of which are things many people have assured me time and time again are my choices.

What should such fellows as I do crawling between earth and heaven? We are arrant knaves, all; believe none of us.

From: Lucrezia Lamont That is like the most awesome animation ever. Best thing about this thread really. It's the Viking helmet that does it.

From: Mickey James Aleister ... I like you. I patronize your business. I like your posts here, and I mostly agree with you.
But in this case, the others are right... there are many places to have debates over religion, but this isn't one of them. Please, take it to a more appropriate venue. you didnt read it all this is not a debate bout religion, but rather and much more wider, today's intellectuals mad rush to appease and embrace the irrational and attack and condemn reason. just another aspect of the anti-intellectual nature of modern culture. And AM, who wants to be politicall correct. Who ever entertained the idea for a moment. you didn't and neither have I. I would wade through a river of corpses to follow the truth where ever it leads! Reason my only guide! Milqtoast be damned!

If ever there was a reason for Aleister to change his entire perspective, I think it was post #233.

I have noticed perhaps it same with women or certain ones but I have really noticed at certain points a lot of male friends and acquaintances even in SL certain people really love their opinions. And they will defend them regardless of quality, content or possible conflicts with friends, loved ones, etc. Perhaps they just are good Lawyer material because they just love to argue. With few of my former friends and few lovers eventually their opinions become so important, being right is so important that it becomes like weapon. Personally I guess I rather be wrong, and sissy type guy then be right and beating my chest and everyone around with how "right" my viewpoint is. For me its not about not always agreeing or whatever. I just think in long run do I really have energy to be right and win over everyone with my "maniliness" or correct point of view. For some reason I thought the OP in his or her own way was disccussing something similar but who knows I am willing to be wrong.

This forum isn't for general discussion; there are many Resident Sites where this discussion is appropriate — Resident Answers is for Resident-to-Resident help. I'll close this thread...
