Here's the simplest, most straightforward answer I or anyone else can give:

LL will allow anything as long as it doesn't create legal liability for them. That's all there is to it.

They take some acts to stop griefing and clean things up every once in a while, but overall, banning certain types of activivites is always related to their liability. Age Play, Gambling and Banking all had RL legal implications for LL if they continued to allow it. It doesn't matter where you are. LL is located in the US, so US laws apply. If you don't like it, I'm sorry, but too bad.

Dolcett is not illegal in the US. It's hideous and disgusting, but not illegal. Sex is not illegal, and neither is BDSM, Gor, Vampireplay (I made that word up!), dressing in skimpy outfits, or any number of other things that some people don't like.

I would also argue that Dolcett, while personally offensive to me, is not Broadly Offensive as that term is used by LL. The fact that there is a reasonablly large community taking part in the activity shows that its offensiveness is not broad. It's not like there has to be a majority 51% vote of the general population for something to be Broadly Acceptable. Imagine how awful that would be! It is enough that there is a community involved in it that does not find it to be offensive.

At any rate, the bottom line is that until it is illegal in California or at the federal level in the USA, LL is very unlikely to step in. Good bad or otherwise, that's the bottom line.

I've encountered that type of the net way before I ever came to SL. I counciled one of them out of an untreated iron deficiency. Drinking real blood is stupid and dangerous.
