In response to the original poster, I feel that SL sex is interactive entertainment, between two consenting (hopefully adult!!) individuals. Sure, the person behind the keyboard is probably nothing like there Ava; I understand and recognize that. But the willing suspension of disbelief works for the movies, too.
Sex in SL is the opportunity to spin a shared fantasy ... and it's the interaction, the spontaneity, and the pleasure of being on a wavelength with the person on the other end that makes it more interesting than fantasizing by one's self. SL sex is not a substitute for or equivalent to RL sex, but that doesn't mean it's without value. And especially between two people whose opportunities to do what they fantasize about together are severely limited in RL, for whatever reasons, SL sex can be a relief, an escape, and a delight. Madhu said it very well - thank you. I concur, and appreciate the clarity and beauty of the way you put it. I enjoy SL as an opportunity to explore my sexuality on a whole new level. I have experienced one or two 'new' things, and gotten the opportunity to bring my RL experiences online, to create a scene with another person that maybe brought them a new experience. I havent seen a job description but if it is part of their job then they are falling down on it. Why, that must mean *gasp* YOU'RE NOT A MOD! Sooooo... Why don't you go find better, more constructive uses for your time, and let the people who ARE mods do their jobs. If it seems to you that they are "falling down on" their jobs, it is probably a better indication that they are not nearly as anal-retentive as you are.
