From: Jackie Silverfall Funny...we always made a point of using local chat when having sex so there would be no permanent record Your comment about transcripts sort of makes me wish we had used IM. I agree completely with all of your statements, Madhu. Well said. No permanent record? Check your preferences. Pep (And your chat.txt file - or anyone else's close enough to hear.)

I agree completely with all of your statements, Madhu. Well said. Local chat! I don't think I could bring myself to do that even in my private skybox which is more than 1200m above my estate home. You are a braver person than I! (Or more of an exhibitionist. ) At any rate, I log local chat as well. I can't remember whether it's set to log by default, but it's in the preferences somewhere. But I do recommend saving chat logs of your intimate moments, especially if you are very verbally-oriented. I don't get to see my sweetheart as much as I would like, and those chat logs really help keep me warm when I'm missing her ...

From: Madhu Maruti Local chat! I don't think I could bring myself to do that even in my private skybox which is more than 1200m above my estate home. You are a braver person than I! (Or more of an exhibitionist. ) Its no fun unless there's a crowd of people watching you and listening in, and hopefully egging you on if you get lucky enough to be in the spotlight. Too bad I can't pull that off in RL... Oh, and having it be casual, anonymous, and public doesn't mean it doesn't have a form of value. But of course, since I do see it as so different than the RL thing, that value is from a very different source. I guess, I see no more reason to have an emotional bond from SL sex than from an SL lecture on making hair. Doesn't lack value, doesn't lack fun - just isn't something that crosses past my screen anymore than anything else in there. I can meet someone in RL in coffee shop to talk shop about my profession, and not have to form a meaningful relationship out of it even if its just two people alone together for several hours. And in that RL scenario, I have the added distraction of RL hormones. In SL, I can escape that last element, and so there's even less need to let the bond get out of control - even if we're trading erotic poems at each other while watching our AVs bounce around on poseballs. But I think I've hit a point where I'm not saying anything I haven't already said in this thread - making me sound preachy when I don't mean to. So time for me to step out.

OK very stupid question here.. but please bare with me as I am only trying to understand alot of this. I recently just found out what the term "To Yiff" means. I have alot of friends and SL familly who are cats, dogs, wolves..etc.
However, just occurred to me seeing as though we are all getting up in arms with the adult issue, is the practice of "yiffing" considered beastiality? I mean no harm to anyone nor am I looking to troll for anger.. I am just really wondering if anyone has thought of this. I welcome everyone's opinions on this matter as I am not here to bash/hate on anyone.
thanks Tim

.......How is it bestiality when no animals are involved. And this may not be trolling but the question is really poorly thought out considering the first sentence of this reply. Yiffing, what furries call sex, has nothing to do with bestiality, and is sex between people in fur suits in RL or furrie avatars in SL.

From: Dirtymuck Dagger Obviously the move of adult content is the first of many steps to change the way we use SL and to change the way it is percieved. SL has become the perfect media in which to cheat on your RL partner, and however we like to deny it having an SL partner, getting married, having a baby, having sex and all the rest of it that SL promotes is cheating. As people become more involved in their second live's doing pointless things like setting up a home, going to virtual clubs and pubs etc and generall chatting to other sad residents their real life suffers terribly. In 3 years time nobody will want to be associated with this kind of game and the disgusting behaviour of it's residents I'm pretty sure that I could say the above about TV and how it has turned better than 75% of adults into couch potatoes that ignore everything else going on around them. At least in SL, I am having conversations with real people and improving my math skills while learning the intricacies of building. There is much in SL to grow the mind, whereas very little on TV these days will do that. BTW -- Given your attitude shown by your posts, why are you here in SL? If you truly believe what you post, then you are a hypocrite for being here. If you do not, then you are nothing but a troll.

From: Ian Nider I don't think it is, bestiality is humans wanting to have sex with animals. Actually, "want" is not what defines it. Bestiality is the act of sex between a person and an animal. From: Tim Gagliano is the practice of "yiffing" considered beastiality? Yiffing is sex between Furries and Furries are not animals - they are simply people in animal costumes (difficult distinction for some folks, but there is a difference).

While you don't see any reason for an emotional bond within SL sex, I am the complete opposite - I see no reason for SL sex without an emotional bond. For me, the shared fantasy is what makes it enjoyable, and if I'm not close enough to my partner to let her in to my fantasy, to make myself vulnerable by showing her what I need and why I need it - well, without that connection then it really is just words on a screen. Doesn't mean either of us is right or wrong, just that there's different ways to do things and different ways to enjoy things. Oh, and that you and I would probably make a lousy couple.

While there is a certain allure to the concept (kind of like having sex somewhere where you might get caught), actually being brave enough to do it is a bit different.
