I would say I am more like an enthusiastic member of the Hitler Youth.

That is probably the most disgusting thing written in sl forums so far.

*laughs* You know I imagine you storing all this info away in encyclopaedic volumes for some nefarious purposes that you have not revealed yet :D

BTW I hope you noticed I participated anyway ;)

Downloading Nancy...I'm one to research when someone makes a point to compare a situation to another situation. The nail is on the head with that reference. In more ways than some people want to recognize.

For every Louis online...there is a Nancy. For every Nancy there is an Albert.

If everyone would stop the damn hate mongering, the censoring, and open their damn eyes to the sensibilities and needs of EVERYONE around them....aw crap...I sound like a hippy again.

Can't we all just get along? :( *points out the sadface as meaning she knows that'll never happen* *sad face again* *mumbles* whatever happened to love thy neighbor.....?

Yes, I did. Thanks.
I have tons and tons of information all stored up in a huge system. One day my plan will be revealed and James Bond will have to find me. (I won't run too quickly.)
But,
back to the question ...

Jig honey- it's just an alt troll doing what it does for entertainment's sake- in fact at the beginning, it feingned annoyance at a contrived comparison to Hitler- yeah got me that time, I had for a brief time not realized what it was and took it's crusade as it really was some uppity wannabe with a sharp stick firmly embedded. It is more than likely (and so sadly) a regular here just finding another dimension to getting his jollies- I would put the Dirt Troll on the same list, btw- Troll Wannabes that herald their arrival thru lack of imagination-
Other than that, enjoy the interplay between the real people- these others are just bad stage props.

The mind
06-12-2009 05:58
John Milton said that "The mind is its own place and in itself can make a hell of heaven, a heaven of hell". Believe it or not I have a mind. Sometimes it manages an avatar, and sometimes it manages a flesh and blood thing. And for better or worse, I love to engage that other mind. Sometimes the medium of communication is sex, and I love it. The same thing is true with a flesh and blood partner. When they found that porn was protected by the first amendment guarantee of free speech, one of the Supreme Court justices commented afterward that he didn't know what porm was. "But I know it when I see it." That is, porn is in the eye of the beholder. Just like beauty. Just like wonderful in music. just like preferences in exotic food.
Just like love. All in the prerception of the beholder. Reflect on it carefully and you will grasp what a fantastic opportunity SL can be. Please let us play any way we want. It can be as deep as any two minds want it to be.

Well, first, let me say how delightful it is to see Milton quoted here . . .

HOWEVER . . .

I should point out that, while it is Milton who WROTE this, it is not Milton who SAYS it. These lines are, in fact, spoken by Satan in Paradise Lost (is there a bit of identification going on here? ;)), and it proves, in the event, to be spectacularly wrong: Satan CANNOT make a "heaven" of his "hell."

I make this point, in part because it is fun to be obnoxiously pedantic sometimes (:D), but also because the proper context of the quote rather undercuts your point that it is "all in the perception of the beholder" . . . Such a view, to Milton, would smack of that most DEADLY of sins, Pride (which has, I am pretty sure, now been exiled to Zindra) . . .

Just sayin' . . .

Having problems differentiating between reality and the depiction of reality again?

Pep (Save it for your thesis.)

Tsk tsk tsk . . . Who peed on YOUR cornflakes this morning?

And I'd use it in my thesis, but it's so blindingly obvious that it's been said a million times before. (Sigh)

So why'd you feel the need to say it again?

Pep (Or maybe you mean that you have demonstrated your inability to differentiate a million times before, just in these forums. :D )

MY son has this habit of terminating arguments with me that he is bored with by saying "Poohead". :p

Pep (I have absolutely no response to such a damning argument! )

Speaking personally, I give additional credit for any indication, however miniscule, of the existence of a sense of humour in the midst of the intensely boring tracts with which students present me.

Pep (YMMV)

Sorry, can't talk now. I'm trying to work "poohead" into my conclusion . . .

Isn't that the moderators' job?

I havent seen a job description but if it is part of their job then they are falling down on it.

Uhhh . . . maybe I'm missing something, but . . . what does this have to do with "poohead"?

I think maybe you've rather lost track of where this thread is going . . . ;)

I was providing a more appropriate analogy than what had previously been suggested which Godwinned the thread in any case. Why would you have a problem with that. I know that much more disgusting things have been written here.

I always kind of preferred 'poopyhead' myself - that is what my daughter used.

Obviously the move of adult content is the first of many steps to change the way we use SL and to change the way it is percieved. SL has become the perfect media in which to cheat on your RL partner, and however we like to deny it having an SL partner, getting married, having a baby, having sex and all the rest of it that SL promotes is cheating.

As people become more involved in their second live's doing pointless things like setting up a home, going to virtual clubs and pubs etc and generall chatting to other sad residents their real life suffers terribly.

In 3 years time nobody will want to be associated with this kind of game and the disgusting behaviour of it's residents

Well Dirtymuck I am sorry but I have to disagree with you! First of all I am married in RL and have been for 14 years next month. I have been in SL off and on for almost 3 years now and I have had a partner for just over a year. I don't hide my SL from my RL husband, he has a computer right next to mine and he plays LOTRO while I play SL. He even talks on voice to my friends sometimes. Yes, I have set up a home in SL, gone to virtual clubs & chatted with my friends on voice. This does not make me a sad resident with distgusting behaviour! My partner and I enjoy going dancing, seeing live shows (BubbaC rocks!!), exploring creative sims, taking pics & shopping of course! I also recently opened my own little shop and have had such a great time with it so far. I do not find my behaviour disgusting at all nor does my RL husband! The friendships I have made here have crossed over into RL and we are all planning a meeting sometime soon. In 3 years of SL my RL has not suffered, my husband does not complain nor does he consider me to be distgusting or a cheat!
