I happen to be a fan of animations, and in particular, the best quality, most realistic ones of all kinds. Not for any sort of porno cartoon value though.. it's because for me the shared experience gains a lot with the right animation(s). They sort of solidify or validate that part of the storyline, and also give a non-native RP'er like me a baseline connection that I can expand upon easier. Fuel for the fire so to speak. Combining the right animations in concert with your RP, instead of just something to animate in spite of it, can be a very powerful thing indeed. Much more than the sum of it's parts.

Almost since the earliest days I made my own devices using the XPOSE system with personally selected animations.

A careful selection of poses placing the avs in a consistently orientated sequence can be very effective. I think the 'cartoon like' quality people complain about in animation is largely down to poor matches and illogical menus whereby couples unexpectedly spin around or zip from one side of the room to another.

Another good idea is to use simple looped animations with a few versions that vary tempo on the same pose. They work well visually and also have the practical advantage of not requiring a lead line in chat: a brief click immediately spices up the action and leaves more time to emote without throwing anyone out of the mood.

I can't stand it when I look up to find a partner has suddenly changed to a completely new and different pose without giving some verbal clue that they are about to do so.

My record so far is a collection of nearly 200 animations in an amulet worn by my vampire alt. One 'play' sequence has something like twenty-five related animations. Unfortunately, SL is so riddled with tainted Bloodlines victims he rarely gets the opportunity to use it.

LOL yes. I find the opposite is annoying for me as well.. moving way off in story to something else readily animated, yet not doing it or being too lazy/involved to try.

Obviously the move of adult content is the first of many steps to change the way we use SL and to change the way it is percieved. SL has become the perfect media in which to cheat on your RL partner, and however we like to deny it having an SL partner, getting married, having a baby, having sex and all the rest of it that SL promotes is cheating.

As people become more involved in their second live's doing pointless things like setting up a home, going to virtual clubs and pubs etc and generall chatting to other sad residents their real life suffers terribly.

In 3 years time nobody will want to be associated with this kind of game and the disgusting behaviour of it's residents

Answering the question posed in the OP, I think the only practical way to get a physical kick in this game would be to use voice, which I don't like, otherwise good emoting and animation is far too immersive and labour intensive in itself. Personally, I always have something I want to say - finding the detail or telling phrase is very much a big part of my interest in cyber.

Brenda made an interesting point ın her earlier post about "inspiration when being with a RL partner" which I think is by far and away the healthiest result one could expect from a good cyber session. Of course it's still good and probably even more useful for those who don't in fact have an RL relationship.

How long are we going to have to endure you in this forum? Just curious.

Sorry, but my real life would suffer greatly if all I had to do was watch TV instead of chatting with other people. I have seen what that can do to people, I don't want to live that way.

This is very similar to my views. I find the graphics in SL good enough to be mildly erotic, and the animations (Especially good ones!) provide wonderful inspiration and eye candy to keep the energy up while emoting.

As for Jig's question, I don't consider sex in SL to be masturbation. To me, it's sex. IMO 70-80% of sex happens in the mind anyway. Whether there's physical release or not, the emotional release of sex in SL is just as powerful as with a RL partner.
