The only visible weapon I have is a sword to decorate my "guardian angel" avatar. It is for appearances only. The actual weapons I have for dealing with griefers when needed are not visible; no-one knows they are there unless it is necessary for me to send the person far, far away.

Not seeing the connection...I'm a neko and I shoe shop. :p

Hehe, shoes can be formidable weapons if needed to be. :P

It seems rather pointless as fighting is few and far between. I suppose they can be used in places where they roleplay and fighting is part of it. We really need more places to shoot things. There's the combat sandboxes. I really have no idea how those work. The last time I went there to show a newbie we both got shot and sent home.

Perhaps with the demise of gambling we can get some kind of skill based shooting games that can be wagered on? Target shooting? Dress a newbie up as a fox and go on a fox hunt?

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

Guns aren't scary. Anvils, now. Drop an anvil on someone you'll get their attention.
I droped a jeep on people in the Sandbox the other day when I was building a house 200 m over them. I had inadvertantly made the entire building non physical when I put in a waterfall door. ( I was double checking to see if my carport was a realistic size)

I actually bought some fairly expensive combat-style guns last night. Last Call put out an outfit based on the one Milla Jovovich wore in Resident Evil: Apocalypse (a movie I love) and it just didn't look right to me without some serious hardware. lol

So that's my reason for buying guns in SL...I needed accessories, damn it!

I'm a person who doesn't own many weapons at all, yet i agree that sometimes it can be fun to use them. Just not on other people without their consent. :) I've collected and created a few comical guns such as a cookie crossbow i helped build, and a cat launcher i made. I don't go into the realistic stuff because it just doesn't please me. I'm the type who carries around the taco cannon or the plushie launcher. I also got a psitec. :p A friend recently gave me a bubble gun i think is pretty neat.

Has anyone ever created a chicken bow à la Hot Shots? I read of a chicken launcher, but I'd like to see a stretched cartoon chicken, rigid with fear. That's the only weapon I'd buy.

The same reason people want hair, high-heeled shoes and genital appendages. They're fun.

hehe. if anyone watches family guy there was a episode where Adam West answered his front door to a pizza guy. he didn't like how he substituted Canadian bacon for regular bacon so he said "pizza delivery guy, prepare to meet your maker at the hands of my CAT launcher" and started to chase him down with it. "poof REAWRR!!!". After seeing that, i had to make the thing. I forget where i put it since then but i think i have a copy on a alt. XD

In the right places, at the right time, it is pure and simple , FUN!!

Plus its better to have a gun and not need it, than to need a gun and not have it.

Its my land and I do what I like on it.

something about bear arms, too, I think its a furry thing ;)

We've been over the inherent impracticalities of arming bears in a previous thread. The general consensus was reached that this was a Bad Idea.

For some they are and for some they are not.

But what is the deal? If we show enough respect to each other there isn't a problem at all.

I mean, don't wear/use them on the land of people who make clear they don't want them.... On other side, if you go to land where they are allowed, accept that. And if you go to damage enabled land, accept the consequences of that.

So simple it is for me.

Morwen.

I use my SAW M239 - Don't Worry I make Alien look wussy.
Swords are fine ("I am sure my arm will grow back one day" as my SL partner always says) BUT for sheer power give me a heavy machine gun any day. It blows them off their feet and even on occasion they leave their boots behind!:)

Because SL is alot of things to people in one world. To some its only a game, to some its a business, to some its a gather place. Some peope treat it as a first person shoter. Just depends on the people.
