Why is the slutty look so popular

Wait, was it just a skin-tight t-shirt? I'd have to see. Skin-tight, no bra, very obviously aroused . . . with the words "Make me Purr" written across the front . . .

That would do it...

I don't necessarily think tight is slutty in RL. RL, just like SL is all about context - where the clothes are being worn (no jokes about up the butt after a tp, please - I meant in what sort of place, ie a grocery store vs a night club) and how the wearer is behaving. There's a difference between a tight t-shirt and a skirt and a painted on latex cat suit - both are tight, but one is slutty in almost every context.

I didnt find any of the pics slutty.

Slutty is how you act, not how you dress.

If, you act Slutty............... So What !.......is that a bad thing. ?

I guess it depends on the circumstances, outfits that would not cause a stir in Rio de Janeiro, might fare differently in Downtown Jeddah.

I like the boots in the 2nd pic, they would look lovely under my Burqa, which is a racy and provocative shade of blue.

Ah well. I don't know the definition of slutty, or how to use it, I guess. I have "slutty looking" clothes in my inventory. I'll try to think up a new name for that folder.

And yes, I find blue to be quite provocative, much more so than the much overused red. I mean, you don't want to look like a staid, conservative cardinal in the Catholic church.

Im not sure that the distinction is all that important, after all -

Ive never actually seen someone wear rubber clothing in real life.

Oh, I only meant look.

That was the part I was hoping she was kidding about...that a person's manner of dress is indicative of their morals. I mean, it might be in some cases, but I try not to make those assumptions.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

I do not think any of the clothing choices in your picture is slutty.

Thank you! I've noticed that there is a market for "normal clothes" and I'm trying to make that my "niche".

I was trying to give two ends of the spectrum. I guess I could have gone from a form fitting business suit to one of those adult Catholic school girl outfits that leave nothing to the imagination and are custom made to work men into a lather. Both are attractive and sexy when worn right, and both can be slutty in context, but the latter is slutty in most every context I can imagine, and the former isn't. That's the distinction I was going for.

No offense but why is the cheap skanky look so popular with the girls in second life?

In one day, 17 pages has been devoted to this question. If only people exerted this amount of energy into other things....:p

Shep - it's easy - it's popular because that is the sort of clothing that woman are most buying - you know supply and demand. If rubber nun suits were the fad, then most of us chicks would be wearing that!

For the record, I like the "cheap skanky" look, but I prefer to call it provacative and slutty because it's more fun! :D

I don't know about rubber, but I saw one that was the habit plus a corseted bustier thing. :p

The slutty/not slutty clothes in the pictures are all my own designs.

The boots are from Dark Eden, and are IMO some of the yummiest boots in SL.

I guess you don't get out of the house much. :p The 'cheap skanky' look is the 'de facto' in RL. Of course some just call it fashionable. :)

That's messed up. I couldn't get even remotely intimate with any woman who reminded me of my mom.

The bottom line to this whole conversation is that a lot of SL is fantasy. Women are sexual beings, just like men, and if they choose to express that in SL or find it empowering to do so, then good for them. Sex is part of life - part of being human, and it is safe to express that part of oneself in SL, because there aren't the same concerns about real life abuse or rape. Even non-consensual RP is consensual. Why can't we just leave people be and let them do whatever makes them happy without trying to figure out whether it makes them good or bad people?

Hi Trout. I agree with all you say in the post above.. but i think you are missing one thing in your first paragraph...

its not that the "ideal woman" *reminds* some guys of Mom.. its about the sort of woman she was, and how she dressed and acted is part of that for some guys. Modesty perhaps, conservatism... the things some guys think of as the ideal for a wife and mother are personified by their own mother. Mothers set an example to their kids of how its OK to behave and to present themselves. Some people rebel, but some people hold that up as the ideal.

Some guys love the idea of a slutty dresser just because its NOT like mom... It goes both ways.

Please note that i say "some guys" and "some people".

love

Yes, but what if it had been worn by a female avatar?
