I don't find any of those outfits 'slutty.' They reveal more skin than I would be comfortable with on my av the majority of the time, and they'd certainly be inappropriate in certain situations, but I don't look at them and automatically think, "Slutty."

Incidentally. A friend of mine has a plan for determining if the avatar she is dealing with is male or female in RL. She asks them to describe an orgasm. In theory, this should weed out the weeds. But hey, if any stranger asks me to describe my orgasm, as far as I'm concerned, the stranger is a guy of the pathetic persuasion.

Oh . . I see. I had read that as meaning in SL. That you had to be careful about using the word slutty because your only choice is skintight shirt or a baggy shirt that looks like the body under the shirt is baggy instead of the shirt being baggy.

I for one find I need to have a conversation or several with someone before I can decide whether I like them or not.
In that respect music venues are great levellers ... live music attracts pretty much every possible shape, form and variety of creature known to the universe, who subsequently have a great time and a laugh together while enjoying the music.
Who cares what anyone looks like, wears or get up to in the privacy of their own homes. It doesn't make them good, bad, nice, horrible or anything else. I like to judge a book after I've read it.

Bree makes a really good point about the nature of the avatars clothing makers are working with. Since the the 3d mesh makes all clothes look as if they are painted onto a nude body and legs and hips tend to poke through skirts and coats it really is easier to make skimpier clothes.
As a former mini-skirted bartender in rl who did not tolerate being treated disrespectfully I'd have to say that looking sexy can actually be used to intimidate men and certainly doesn't necessarily imply low self esteem.
It is sad that some women come across as desperate. But really I think provocative clothes in SL are probably just fun for most people.

I think this thread is causing me to come to the conclusion that "slutty" is more a behavioral thing than a clothing thing. I don't like that term because of the negative conotation, but that's the one we've been tossing about. Sexy, sensual, provacative, etc.. It's how the person behaves and what they say that conveys who they are. what they wear is just gives you a bare first impression. It would take a pretty shallow person to refuse to look deeper into someone before reaching a conclusion. I wouldn't want someone to take one glance at me and just assume that I'm a dirtbag, or a pervert or a creep or something.

Now that I think about it, I don't know why I would prefer that they get to know me before reaching those conclusions. I guess then they have at least given me a fair chance to be who I am and if they decide they don't like me, then that's ok with me. If they just decide besed on looks, then don't think I've been given a fair shot. I don't know why I care, though.

Ann I did mean skintight in real life... I was trying to find a picture of a girl in real life with a skin tight t-shirt but I couldn't find any that I would post here. Skintight tshirt in SL? That's normal.

OK, thanks for clearing that up. I still don't think a skin tight t-shirt equals loose morals, though.

I do think skin-tight in real life is slutty. More so than skintight in SL (because of the thingie I thought Bree was saying before). Especially if it is a form-fighting all-body latex/rubber/cotton/silk/whatever item.

It might *look* a little slutty, depending on the situation and the rest of the woman's clothing, but that doesn't really have anything to do with her actual morals.
