There are no absolutes in cases of the heart: the best one can endeavour is to do no harm.

I was feeling aphoristic today . . . :D

(Lindal, how much for a bottle of that Duct Tape Adhesive Dissolver anyway?)

Oh well . . . I couldn't reach for my purse to pay her anyway with my arms taped up like this.

You see that blue drop down box that has a 'yes' button on it? (yes, the one that says it's ok to deduct Lindens straight from your account for Lindal). just click yes, with your chin.

I always thought 'friends with benefits' meant having a good friend that you could sleep with once in a while without strings, and yet stay good friends.

The ability to enjoy them on occasion without strings IS the benefit...isn't it?

I've had friends with benefits:) But I never slept with someone to get good tickets at a rock concert. Hmmm.

Sure it does! Uses the same principle as the Bloodlines Garlic Necklace.

*goes back to peeling off the labels from Snake Oil bottles and pasting on Duct Tape Remover labels instead*

Sex is fun to talk about, but I suspect that your sexual diversions have been less adventurous for you than creating your art gallery, Jig. Adventure is where you find it!
:)

Don't count on it. My first long term sl partner was a werewolf in a wolf skin. And my "divorce" was an adventure in itself. Now, he didnt appreciate my fooling around.
Reality has been a wild ride and I have had more than just sex in my life. I find sl fascinating because it's like a swimming pool. You never know who your gonna dive on top of when you plunge in.

This brings to mind another saying " if you sleep with dogs your going to get fleas "

I still question why partner if your wanting to screw all that moves or most things that move. Your partner may accept it but does not mean it does not hurt them. Seems simple if you want to play the field stay single

Good point. But my partner (Hal) is my friend here and is my confidante. Hal is a modern man with much to offer me but he and I are aware that we stay here as far as our relationship goes and never go to a stage where we meet in real.

I know myself well enough to realize I would be a libertine in real. There's much less guilt here. I would hate to hurt him in real but I wouldnt be able to help myself. I stay clear of committment in real because of that.

It doesn't neccisarily hurt your partner to have an open relationship. It all depends on what you need from each other and how secure you are. I have a very sweet partner. We have an open SL relationship.

We can travel and adventure without each other in SL. We find it brings new and exciting things back into our relationship. He is my safe anchorage. I know that I take priority in his SL thoughts and he takes priority in mine. If I ever want or need him all I have to do is mention it and he has the same priviledge from me. We touch base often and send several IMs when we are apart. We make sure to schedule time for our avatars to be together and we never miss our anniversary.

I have met several of his friends. He has met several of mine. We even have a few shared friends. New people I choose to have a relationship with know all about my partner and the role he plays in my SL life. I don't think whatever playing I or he does takes away from our bond.

This is what it meant when I learned the expression. I guess we just outed our age or something.

Trading sex for favors was called wh... oh never mind, that's prolly not what Jig wants to hear. :p

my confidante

Due to the seeming lack of Pep in the forums lately, I shall adopt one tiny function of his role here... in gentle stewardship, of course.

And in so doing, point out that confidante refers to a woman that you take into confidence, whereas if it's a man, he would be your confidant.

Which would make the subject your confidant, unless this was a subtle slip.

And subtle slips, either metaphoric or tangible, are generally pretty expensive :)

How can that be possible if confidante is teh person you give scerets to and confidant is how you feel?
I have NEVER heard that before.

Okay just checked it out and its right. Well not sure what you think it implies? An expensive metaphor? Oh I see! That I may be a man by my use of this word as a woman. Nope sorry. Just always used confidante coz it pronounced differently from confidant (as in I am a "confidant singer";).

Word of advice - dont be a Pep - peopel dont liek knowitalls.

Ok I am not sure whether Im impressed or totally baffled. I had read this post and went and had a look at Jig's profile.
No voice/no cam and I think on another posting with ref. to voice she said that voice was too impersonal or something along those lines.
If voice is not personal how can typing be? I am amazed that it would seem that there are lots of men out there who can get off on someone typing. Also in awe of their one handed typing ability if Im to believe that it comes to the inevitable conclusion.
Would have thought it would be easier to go to you tube and watch some live action but maybe I am missing something here.
Maybe someone can enlighten me.

I can see that. Voice, for me, rebuilds the fourth wall. I know what my voice sounds like, and I have a feel for what my avatar sounds like, and they're not at all the same. So instead of being in the scene, I'm outside it, talking about it. SL becomes as immersive as MST3K. Why bother with the expensive computer and high bandwidth internet link?

Not to mention that voice doesn't have a backspace key, and text doesn't have ums, or ahs, or background noises.

And some people find a dirty book more interesting than a dirty movie.

If we must be picky....

"Confidant" could be Who you feel.
"Confident" would be how you feel.

because people feel more secure when they are the sole object of desire? it's like a non-competition clause (one I don't bother with in RL personally)

Jeez. For that they should buy a dog.

Though playing with the sentence is informative: "sole object of desire" = stalker. "object of sole desire" = lap-dancer. "desire of sole object" = foot-fetishist.

Personally,if I were Hal..I would dump your ass so fast for constantly bringing up my private relations on a public forum. There really is a thing called 'too much information',Jig.

That being said,I am glad that your relationship works for you. Not everyone is into that kind of relationship. I prefer to be with one man myself. A lasting, loving, trusting relationship with someone who is more than just my hot monkey sex partner. I guess I have never really been in to one night stands and don't find them very satisfying.

That doesn't have a good ring to it, imo. It would have made a nice ring if it had said, "Hal is a modern man and we have much to offer each other."

If you haven't figured out by now,Jig is all about herself. To be fair, I think that comes with being young and single though. Most people get over that selfish phase at about 17 or when they have children or marry.(No offense Jig,seriously)
