Edit: Removed a Tacky Joke "CX" Did any other Easterners get hit with the brutal storms we had here last night? I was watching the baseball game last night when there was an awful crash. A large piece of my Oak tree came down, nicked the chimney and wound up on my car.... Luckily there is only a dent in the fender, but it's her first Love your dresses but I doubt I would look any better in them than Mac did. pics, please. We will be the judges. Words cannot express just how much I am NOT wanting to see you in my dresses. ![]() _____________________

That was one hellacious storm here in the DC area. I kept waiting for the power to go out, which usually happens with the slightest rumble of thunder or flash of lightning. Fortunately, this time around we were OK. We were under a tornado watch, too....heh.. I was watching "Twister" at the time... ![]() |

My stepfather gave me a plate as a wedding present that he had engraved on, in Egyptian heiroglyphs (he was a silversmith in his spare time, as well as an Egyptian scholar and player of the Northumbrian pipes and . . .) the inscription: "The secret of a relationship is to disagree without being disagreeable" Congratulations threadies! Pep (Wiping a tear from his eye . . . ) Pep, your stepfather sounds like he is/was a fascinating fellow! And what a lovely wedding gift. ![]() |

I am delighted to be able to pass on the wisdom of my stepfather-in-law (missed the "in-law" bit initially) who is probably even now chuckling to himself in the great Second Life in the sky that his words have reached a wider audience.

[whimpering grief] thank you all for your kindness to me, and understanding about my over-the-top draw to cats and their plights. it's so easy for me to fall in love with a cat. all it takes is a glance in their direction, and my heart fills with meow shaped hairballs. as such, any loss is devastating.
i sincerely hope Tod's Siamese kitten is healthy. and i feel for everyone here who has lost a beloved pet. my heart just sank deeper and deeper as i read each memory. they become our children, convert a house in to a home, and become the vibrant spirit that brings that home to life. and we are lucky to have been gifted even one moment with their presence. I have a question: a long time ago in Lusk's Nest -there was a dance floor. It was a little difficult to get to and i recall it was red... Any clues? I searched all over for it recently and never found it.

on the lighter side of life, i do have good news. yesterday, before my day took a bad turn, by happenchance i bumped in to an old client i dealt with while working in the construction business. this fellow had written me a letter of recommendation upon my departure from said job, and it is either the 1st or 2nd one that i stack in the pile of my resume package, because it is so complimentary. i waved hello, and he waved me over in effort to chat. i was feeling peppy, and genuinely glad to see him, so i bipped over and said hello.
ex-client did not know i was actively seeking other employment, but was excited to tell me he has a friend who is an attorney who is seeking a new legal secretary of some sort, and apparantly i would be perfect for the job. friend is going to contact his attorney friend and recommend me, and i am to then follow up on Friday with a phone call and resume package delivery. so just randomly, this sort of falls in to my lap. i don't know the first thing about the law, but apparantly i will learn quickly. LOL i don't particularly believe i qualify for the position, but there isn't tons of quality employees around here to pick from that don't already have an amazing job, so maybe i'll just get lucky! i sure would relish the challenge! i need to find that "last job", and while it won't have me in an occupation that assists in the development of children (which is what i prefer), it certainly has potential and tons and tons of fascinating aspects that i'm sure i can become passionate about. so, it didn't seem so wonderful last night when i was wallowing in a heap of self pity, but this morning i am seeing things more clearly, recognizing reality and practicality once again, and finding this idea to be very interesting. i still need to advise my MIL of Sierra's status, but to be honest, i think i am going to lie. she REALLY wanted a female and was pretty confident she did not want a male, AND she wanted an older cat and not one who was under 2 years old. so i think i will tell her that Sierra did not meet her criteria and that he has been adopted by a wonderful Father who will love and cherish him. ok, so enough about me. today i have much to do, and don't particularly feel jovial and playful, so i probably won't be around tons. thank you for your shoulders and ears, and compassion. i hope Rioko's mom is okay. i couldn't find an update in my scanning, so i just wanted to also wish her well and her mom a speedy recovery. Also, Joseph's dad ~ i haven't seen anything for days, so i hope things are heading in a positive direction for him as well. ciao for now. _____________________

![]() Great news on meeting up with the ex-client! And I am sure Trout could give you some pointers re: legalese. ![]() Joseph's dad is doing much better, so much so that Joseph has moved out and is back at home in his own digs. ![]() And Rioko's mom is doing better, too.
