At this point he gives me a glare for daring to challenge this BS, and actually checks the notes in front of him.
It turned out that the safety briefing was about Radon, and the installing of detectors in the basement. nothing to do with fire suppression.
He had read the first sentence of the briefing, and was attempting to ad lib his way through it.
