Joe Galloway retires. Journalism is losing one of it's best. He was the reporter in We Were Soldiers Once And Young.

His last column.

Great picture Kylie.

Yes, a great loss to his field. Although I don't know if I even consider journalism, Journalism anymore...all seems to be only about ratings and the all mighty $$$ :(

Thanks :)

@Kylie - very cute picture.

@Lula - Do you mind if I take a copy of the "art is what you can get away with"? It would make a good poster for my house in SL.

A great book and movie.

Nice pix everyone. Grabs some coffee, and ignores all that other stuff.

When I first saw the title and this pic my mind read it as "Breakfast in Bread".

Works either way for me.

today is "Nerd Day" at work so i dressed up for it. i look completely ridiculous, yet i feel very comfortable. i doubt anyone will take me seriously however, so i might have to wear my mean face to balance it out.

The mind boggles. I'd love to see a 3Nerd!

Speaking of nerds, the Resident Geek is getting a new toy...by this weekend, we should have a full home theatre setup, with wall-mounted HDTV flatscreen, surround sound, and Blu-Ray.

He's been trudging around, whipping out his tape measure, scowling at the family room wall, and muttering about "cable management" for a couple of days now. It's a sure sign that the drill and screwdrivers and wrenches are about to make an appearance.

I told him the first thing we're going to watch is "Titanic". He's holding out for The Fast and The Furious.

Why don't you compromise and see House of Flying Daggers?

(serious suggestion, btw)

i am uber envious about the surround sound!

and c'mon, you have to watch Mad Max II (Road Warrior) first. it would be wrong to not watch one of the greatest car chase movies ever made! and it's Mel. duuuuuude, it's the perfect cherry popper!

.oO(i'd have said Bullitt with Steve McQueen as the best chase movie, but it's Mel. he's the hawt)

I'll bet "Blade Runner" is awesome on blu-ray.

lol...

When Kit and I were roommates in RL, her office used to have the best parties. One time they had a party where the theme was "Nerd Party." It was SO much fun.

lol...the outfits worn were...remarkable.

And the food!!! Spam, Hostess Twinkies and Sno Balls, Cheetos...and the like.

woo hoo! Very exciting. I note that the arrival of this set up is suspiciously close to the Super Bowl... :p

But, heck no...I'd be going for LOTR, the trilogy.

Or the new Star Trek movie.

Or "Last of the Mohicans"

or....

I don't mind at all! Or you can go to Art Box and make your own! I can spend hours at that place trying out all of the scenes! (I don't have the URL but it is easy to find in search)

(And I didn't say so before but that is a cute pic Kylie!)

Thanks Mo, Brenda and 3Ring! :)

Back to work!

A great movie for testing out HD is The Matrix. There is one scene in particular that comes to mind. Neo is in the lobby of an office building and he's firing at the agent guys over and over and there are shell casings and stuff flying everywhere. That whole movie looks really cool in HD.

What other two? They only made the first. No sequels were ever made to the Matrix

It's like when people claim there were actual "prequels" to Star Wars. How could that ever happen?

(I reject your reality and substitute my own!)
