Oh, lucky me, I will be learning Mandarin soon... wish I felt your enthusiasm for what seems to be a near-impossible language to learn.

I'd not heard of this store before, but PopArt Furniture has most of their stuff on sale for 1L.
Furniture, plants, rugs.....

Thanks for announcing this in the group chat, Mo. The resulting impromptu party in the furniture store was full of hilarity. Threadies present included Mo, Brann, Soji, Naz, Koko, Lea, Tex, Snickers and Argus. Oh, and one very naked woman with blingy shoes and an über-facelight who apparently could not see the public chat.

Unfortunately, I only took one screenshot:

NOBODY understands all of Photoshop. It's a world unto itself. I am learning to like Layers, except that all too often I create one I don't want when using the Text tool, and I do NOT understand Masks. (I know what they DO, just not how to make them do it.)

And I haven't even TOUCHED the 3D tools, which is why I bought the upgrade to CS4 in the first place.

At the risk of sounding promotional, Robin Sojourner is scary smart on Photoshop. She does classes on it at Builder's Brewery and on Livingtree, and has started to do youtube teaching videos. In the latter, she finally sold me on layer masks. You might need to watch a time or two in order to absorb it all. I have.

I wanna try to learn Blender too but I hear that is worse. I'd also love to learn Mandarin. Not enough time in the day or enough synapses unfortunately :/

i have tried to learn Blender twice. i got zBrush instead!

now, if i could figure out how to convert my files so they were downloadable into SL, i'd have perfectly textured sculpties up the ying-yang (that's as close to Mandarin as i'll ever get)! :)

Ooh I didn't know Robin had her own youtube videos .. thanks for the tip Marianne! While there are plenty of PS tutorials online, it can come in really handy when you're taught it from an SL perspective and all the corresponding pitfalls you might encounter. She's given a LOT to the SL community with all her tutorials, templates, and time in teaching classes.

It was my AO also, I think, that landed my head beneath your lap. I was aiming for the pillow on the other side of the couch/sofa.

I didn't get a picture of that little scene. Nor, for that matter, did I get a picture of naked blingy girl (nor rash girl). I'm not sure if I got any pictures there.

LOL! Great pic. :D

I sent out the bulletin when I was at the store after checking out the deals, but I had to run some errands. When I returned, the party was in full swing! :)

It was great seeing everyone. :)

Can anyone tell me who is managing the tier and tier donations for the Forum Cartel group these days?

Also, the furniture store party was a hoot. I wish I could have stuck around longer. :)

For the first time for yonks I've just been on an old-fashioned chat-room. Still people making inane comments to each other, but without the graphics and music you get in SL. More boring than looking at a blank screen!!

Joe Galloway retires. Journalism is losing one of it's best. He was the reporter in We Were Soldiers Once And Young.

His last column.

Ya that's what I've been doing although it bugs me that with the effect I want, I can't seem to achieve it without merging layers first. I did pick up an interesting tip though. If you ctrl alt shift e, that will create a merged layer on top of all the existing layers you have.

Select all
Copy Merged
File New
Paste ;)
