Aaaand, good morning, Threadies!

This is a repeater, but hey. who doesn't cook the same thing every once in a while? :p

Off to meet my sister for our trip to National Geographic. I'll try not to tip over any of the terra cotta warriors. :p

Seriously? You get that ticked off because someone doesn't watch the local news everyday?

It's Tod, he does that. :p

I blogged again, this time about Bay City.

http://marianne.secondlifekid.com/2010/01/23/so-why-bay-city/

Yeah, you know, you put that against some of the silly articles people write who try SL for a couple of hours... they don't realize how you can find a place that becomes a HOME in the real sense of the word.

OK, Boomer needs to get a job. I just came back from the Vet for his 10,000 mile check up. Between the shots, the exam, the blood work and stuff along with a supply of frontline and Heartguard...$500. Plus the scene of me chasing him around the yard this morning obtaining the required "samples".

True, it's often a shame when folks don't seem to be aware of what's going out outside their own front door, but...sometimes what's happening inside their house keeps them from looking outward...

Sometimes people are just so drained, they don't even want to watch the news because it's so damn depressing how much the world and people suck. I went through a period of not watching or reading the news because I was so sick of seeing stories about people being abused or killed. Every day it seemed there would be a new psychopath who topped the last one doing something even more sick and cruel. It's draining on one's mental health for sure.

Also, A lot of people don't even watch tv much either(like me). I usually watch the shows I like on my computer or on cable channels in re-runs.(Which do not have news between commercials)

I do read the news every morning now,but I can certainly understand why someone wouldn't want to.

TV news? I never watch it. The local shows are crap, half of what they show isn't news and the networks aren't much better. There's no more journalism, it's all about entertainment and making agendas. Newspapers aren't much better anymore.

I'll check in with our Cable Company's News Channel, they do a decent job of reporting without editorializing. I browse throuh CNN.com and Fox.com, as well as a local radio station's site, and any if headlines that interest me, I'll do further reading. Mostly I get my news on the radio when I'm driving.

And I read The Onion and Obama's Teleprompter's Blog.

My mother has the news on ALL DAY LONG. I used to read the news online, but now that I'm informed whether I want to be or not, I quit that.

Oh, and here is my moving shot: Just packed up all my stuff from Watchman. Brenda's helicopter is in the background.

And btw, that dress has some SERIOUS breast shading. I'm not that big.

I get a bit ticked by people that don't at least keep up on ANY current local and world news. Mostly because these are the same people that would often like to give me an earful of their opinion on topics, without know any more than what a headline might tell them. And, the scary part -- a lot of those type of people vote.

But I do not ever really get my panties in a bunch over it -- more of a shake of the head.

Oh, Lil....these are some of my favorite pics you've ever posted. ESPECIALLY the second one.

You, in that skirt, in that pose...just gorgeous, flirtatious...an all around WIN. :)
Thanks - I love that second pic. It is one of my favorites out of all the pics I've done.

Now that is a great order. Truly a Captain I can easily follow any day. And one I will gladly join in going down with this ship.

This is so true - at least 90-95% of the news these days will leave a person depressed.

I pretty much never watch TV, but I manage to find out about the main items via the radio in the car and the internet - and then I'll dig further into the things that seem important.

Yeah. I liked it when I saw it bleary eyed at 2AM, but now wide awake with a pot of coffee in me...I REALLY like it. I agree, one of your best.

As long as you only sail away from there into the sunset. As Captain, you are required to stay here and go down with this ship.

I went on my hiatus from the news right after I read a story about a father decapitating his four year old because the mother and him were getting a divorce(something like that) The mother found the girl upon coming home from work. Another one around the same time, a mother cutting off her infants arms cause the devil made her do it. Call me naive, uninformed whatever...but I really do not want to know those things. I would rather be ignorant than know that a human being is that evil to do something like that to their own child. These days I pretty much stay away from stories like those. Just read the headlines, see what I really should know.(Like political changes, world events etc..) and ignore the rest.

I'm an admitted news junkie. I have an unhealthy need to know what is going on at all times from breaking news, to politics, entertainment and work related stuff. I'm a big fan of http://news.google.com/ where you are offered a variety of sources and perspectives on what's happening in the world, and you are able to personalize your page for what you have an interest in. I have customized sections for world, national, and local news, sports, entertainment, SL etc and it's all on one handy page that I can glance through quickly. I also use Google Reader a lot for RSS feeds.

TV news can be really depressing or annoying to watch as the talking heads drone on about things in black or white terms or you have the Nancy Grace types sensationalizing things that make you paranoid about even walking outside of your house. I do find there is quite a big difference between Canadian and American news ... less splashy and somewhat more in-depth coverage on issues, so in other words, dry and boring, unless you like it that way like I do.

It's an inherent difference in the way of looking at the world. Seeing it as a "place" versus a "thing."

Thats why I like Pittsburgh's news channels. They don't favor one side over another. They dont go for the "sensational" stuff. They just give the plain ol' news. Seems pretty balanced.

I think this is about the only way to come close to maintaining any sanity at all any more.
