I'm not even going to try to catch up on the past 100 posts, as it was a rough night and a worse morning. My doggy, Spanky, passed away this morning. It was good and bad together. He is 1/2 Border Collie and 1/2 Great Pyrenees. Great Pyrenees seldom live past 10 years and Spanky turned 13 just this past Christmas Eve, so the Border Collie gave him a few more years. We have been expecting this for about a year now, so though it is a bit hard on us, it is still easier than when our other ones got suddenly sick and died.

So, on my vacation I made my first visit ever to a Walt Disney venue. I've always cast a jaundiced eye on Disney as an eveil, greey corporate entity bent on controlling the minds of our children as they force us into economic submission as we by their hideously overpriced crap, and I still do, but I have to admit they do put on a good show. The Magic Kingdom was OK, too many kids though.  Space mountain was fun as well as the GM test track. Also, The Hall of Presidents was unbelieveable with animatronic models of all of them. EPCOT was a lot of fun, I actually spent and extra day there and postponed going to Cape Canaveral. I experienced The Beers of the World, several times.The international exhibits were great, there was a fun interactive"Mission: Space" ride where you flew to Mars, 4 people to a ship each with a role, I was the Navigator, and Mission Control was Gary Sinise. They also had a beautiful Christmas Pageant, with Live Celebrity Narrators. I saw it with Angela Bassett and Courny B Vance and it was fabulous. It was nice to be in a setting where Christmas wasn't considered a dirty word. glad you had a great time. i've only been to disneyland, but i love it. i just go for the amusement of it and try not to think about the politics behind it or any other venue that is provided for my enjoyment. cape canaveral - wow. i'm not a big airplane person, but i DO love space and astronauts and machines and cool shit like that. tell us more about that part.  _____________________

Cape Canaveral is awesome, I was there in 2005, but now they have a Space Shuttle launch simulator that I want to try. Also, at the Kissimee Airport is a warbird museum where you can take a ride in a WWII plane. I also want to ride in one of those everglades airboat thingies. |

They all found out this morning, and then an across the board pay cut was announced. So... I'll be making out better than the rest while I'm getting severance. I'm just about to go for a run before it snows again. |

I'm just about to go for a run before it snows again. It was cold when I was there too. There were really only 2 or 3 really nice Florida days the whole time. You'll wind up in a better situation, I know it. |

I'm trying to backread almost 3 weeks of posts to catch up, but that's just not going to work. Mo, a belated hug for your family matter, I hope all is well there, and anyone else who has posted a joy or trial to share belated congratulations or sympathies. I got new glasses last night, and am trying to get used to them. They are progressive tri focals, and are a challenge to figure out. I just looked in this thread after however long it was I was away from it. And it took me right to the last page when I did "go to first unread post" or whatever the post was. Um, if anybody said anything to me or about me . . sorry, I have no idea where to find that now. Or where I was last in this thread. I will start with today. _____________________

What a great idea and makes perfect sense. I'll be at Disney World this summer, my first time in FL. Leaving from there for a Bahamas cruise but spending a couple days at DW first before the cruise. I know it's going to be hella hot. One of the reasons I went to Cancun at Christmas. It was still hot, but it was December hot, not June hot. _____________________

I sang in the 1000-voice choir in the Anaheim Disneyland Christmas performance, the narrator was Jon Voigt. I agree, Disney puts on an AMAZING show. I hadn't been there since high school, and I expected it to feel so corny... but it was really beautiful. They do what they do, and they do it well. For what they charge, they damn well better.  $14 to park, $70 to get in, $5 for a hot dog, $7-9 for a beer.... |

Oh oh oh I'm so sorry, Lil. ((((gentle hugs)))) I don't think we are ever ready to let our loved ones go, whether they have two legs or four. I sometimes find it harder to let the four legged ones go it seems. maybe it's because they put so much trust in us and love us so unconditionally. It's a small comfort, but i've always felt it a bit easier to take when a pet dies by itself as opposed to me having to put it down. There is always that moment of indescision when you pray that it understands what is happening and you are doing what is best for it. |
