Yes, I am actually sadden by the fact that I probably won't get to see us reclaim our country. Given the way people stay apathetic for so long and how much longer it actually takes for any organizing to happen, I will likely be long gone.

k - that one caught me by surprise and make me choke laughing.

Woke this morning to -6 or so with windchill of -16, which really is not too far off normal for us this time of year. But, on my way home I heard some windchill reports for some of the north/northeast areas and a few are running windchills of -45 and worse.

Now that is freakin cold.

I had a surprise at about 4 PM today. My immediate boss and one of the top bosses came in and sat down near my desk, which is something that never happens...

and I got laid off.

This is the first time in my life I've been laid off. I've never been fired.

Thankfully (for me, anyway) it's because the company is doing very badly, and they've been carrying us all for a while, hoping things would turn around. So it isn't personal, and they are doing a lot of nice things for me and will be a great reference, etc., and I got severance.

It's not a total surprise, and I had been thinking about what I'd do if it happened.

I have to give back my laptop! The one I use for SL! I am going to get a new one, this weekend at the latest, so if I'm not around for a few days, don't worry. I should be able to use the family computer to stick my head in here.

What else... so Monday I will start looking, talking to everyone I know, all the people I used to work with, updating my resume, etc.

I'll need to work out my budget, find out about health insurance (maybe Rush Limbaugh will pay for mine). Things don't look too bad.

I'm also going to RUN every morning. I really miss running. I used to do it a lot, but lately it's been hard to find time. Plus it's been so damn cold. And I'm going to do some organizing here at home. I organized my inventory inworld ( did I tell you? ) - now I'm going to do it in RL. It's less difficult out here... I can ask my mother for help, sorting clothes, stuff like that.

I was a little scared right after they told me. but now I'm hopeful and curious about what the future will bring.

Bummer about the job and the shock, but congrats on this attitude.

Seven - hugs! Sometimes getting laid off is the best thing that can happen to someone. I enjoy my new job 1000 times more than the one that let me go last year. Silver linings and all that... you'll find a place that's perfect for you.
