Neat Mari, people need to explore more. Too many times we just do a point-to-point TP and rarely walk more than half a sim.

Most politicians are scum -- some are lower than scum. From the news today: (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100107/ap_on_re_us/us_baltimore_mayor) A politician stealing stuff donated for needy families. Geez, wonder if she makes it a habit to steal candy from little kids also? She takes responsibility for only SOME of her choices and she has only disappointed herself to SOME degree. WTF -- and people actually wonder why this country is swirling down the toilet. ![]() Sad thing is, she can run for office again in two years and she gets to keep her government pension. _____________________

I liked this part particularly: Yet in knowing and doing all this, I can only tell you that there is a lot more out there I don’t know and have not seen. There will always be places to see, things to do, and new experiences to have. There are nine continents, three major cities, and then thousands of privately held island estates to boot. On top of this, things change with a regularity quite unlike the real world. There is simply no way to keep up on it all. I had been sort of rolling over in my mind the *knowability* of SL - and I realize that it isn't a word, but yeah it is funny when a reporter pops in for a few hours and thinks they get it. Nobody knows everything that's out there. |

So much work for nothing! Well, here it is: a picture of a girl in a tub with pizza. Plus volcano and Philip Linden dummy in background. (Bigger version: http://www.flickr.com/photos/sokelli/4252751276/sizes/l/) ![]() The pizza was the hardest prop imaginable. I was lucky I could land it on the side of the tub. I imagined myself eating the pizza, but no. I bought the tub for the picture, along with a yellow rubber duck (not shown). If I can find a better pizza slice, I WILL TRY AGAIN. Oh, this is in the treehouse cafe on Watchman. http://slurl.com/secondlife/Watchman/55/163/38/ I have the Philip Linden object on my front lawn on Cape Able. People come by and change his shirt. ![]() _____________________

@ Lula: Great pic and as Mo said, you do look like some sort of mysterious seer. I imagine you talking with a heavy eastern European accent as your head thrashes about wildly as you speak to the spirits, while your white eyes roll back into your head every once in a while!
@Marianne: Great blog post. I can see parallels to what you allude to in your blog post to real life with respect to urban sprawl, big box malls and car culture in a lot of cities. People hardly walk much even in rl. I am guilty of not walking more in SL, and being more of a tp and cammer. Lag was a big reason for that but things are much better with a new computer. I'll grab your pack of your landmarks later and make a SLesolution to walk more in 2010 and work off all those decadent breakfasts Mo has been feeding us!! _____________________

...She takes responsibility for only SOME of her choices and she has only disappointed herself to SOME degree. WTF -- and people actually wonder why this country is swirling down the toilet. ![]() I'm appalled by what I see these days from people in power, regardless of their political affiliation. Just in the last couple of days... ...Speaker Nancy Pelosi turned down CSPAN's request to televise the reconciliation process on health care. The biggest piece of legislation in decades will be crafted behind closed doors. So much for "transparency" in government. ...RNC chairman Steele is taking money for giving speeches. This is his job, what he's paid by the party to do anyway. ...The Postmaster General is paid not only his government salary, AND bonuses, but also receives money from being on several corporate boards. AND he is being allowed to continue to do so. ...Our Metro subway system is having to reduce service to cover a large budget deficit. But don't worry, they plan to make up for it with a fare increase. ...speaking of health care reform, it looks like a popular money-saver, the Flexible Spending Account, will be less flexible under the reform. You won't be able to use it to pay for over-the-counter medications. Unless you have a note from your doctor. Or unless it USED to require a prescription. Confused yet? ...and what do you want to bet that, once again, Congress will exempt itself from the provision of its own health care legislation? There are louder rumblings every day as this crap goes on, and on, and on. I can see a time coming when people will take back their government from the arrogant and greedy. _____________________

Sad thing is, she can run for office again in two years and she gets to keep her government pension. How many terms is it that qualifies them Chris. Is it just two. I remember way back when they interviewed someone about this in NY. She said "what do you want us to do sell apples on the street?" Actually no, I don't. I want them to have to live like the rest of us. Same benefits as us, they shouldn't be privileged like many of them think they should be. |
