I can still hear the fireworks at Sea World. If I went in the other room I could see them...

I'm still eager for 2012 to come along.

If the world dont end I get to laugh at the morons who panicked thinking it would.

If it does end.... Nice knowing you folks! ;)

He's not the worst governor we've ever had. At least he seems to be trying to do something to save the environment. Not that I ever voted for him. I did enjoy "Total Recall" and the "Terminator" series, which is more than I can say for anything R. Reagan was ever in.

i like him because he "tries" to do anything. i think his heart is in it, and in the right place.

Thank goodness nothing worse happened to you!
It was my mom's birthday.

and the only reason i hit my head is because i was dumb enough to leave the upper cabinet door open just minutes earlier. i was very VERY pregnant and lost my balance, so when i leaned towards the counter i hit it really hard right on the corner. it was my own fault. wacky birthday coincidence that i will IM you with. :)

The San Francisco Giants and the Oakland Athletics were just about to start Game 3 of the 1989 World Series. My husband and my mom were watching it on tv while they waited for me to get ready to go out for dinner. We put off going until we got my brother on the phone. He lives in Sonoma County and we wanted to make sure they were all ok.

yeah, i remember watching the game live too, and seeing the stands swaying. i had been cooking dinner and went over to the tv for a sec just before the earthquake started. it made it to my neck of the woods about 35 seconds after that. very scary.
From: someone
In a weird coincidence, 3 of the people I worked with at the time had close relatives on the Oakland Bay Bridge when the earthquake hit. One of them got off just before the bridge collapsed and the others were not too seriously hurt although one group were stuck in their car for hours.

it was several years before i could drive on that bridge again after that. well, they had to fix it too, but i mean just because i was frightened of it happening again. i still get nervous and anxious when i know i have to drive across it, although i am getting WAY better with bridges in the last 6 months. :D in fact, the scariest one i've crossed was just the other day. it was low to the water and the current looked evil, and i was passengering with a new driver.

*waves to everyone*

hi - at the hospital with my dad; my mom's doing well! The doc, nurses and physical therapist are very happy with her progress and she moves to the rehab center on Saturday. :)

I hope everyone is doing well, and I wish, for everyone, the very best of New Year's!! And please take lots of pics at the NYE party. I want to see some dancing on tables, and wearing of lampshade hats. :p

so glad your mom is recovering nicely. Happy New Year. :)

Happy New Year Everyone!

And ye, who have met with Adversity's blast,
And been bow'd to the earth by its fury;
To whom the Twelve Months, that have recently pass'd
Were as harsh as a prejudiced jury -
Still, fill to the Future! and join in our chime,
The regrets of remembrance to cozen,
And having obtained a New Trial of Time,
Shout in hopes of a kindlier dozen.
~Thomas Hood

I missed the Cartel party but someone sent me a pic.

:( It would have been even better if you HAD been there Sweetie.

I was putting on stuff, there were like 12 people on the forum hud. I finished. Zero people there. I even teleported over to be sure hud not broken. Nope, not broken. No one there.

OK, I can't post to the FC group on Flickr, there is a block of text covering the "add to group" button and it's not clickable (Firefox 3.0.16).

EDIT: Nevermind, I used the "tab" button endlessly until it selected the right option. Pics are now up.

And just to prove I was really there:

Hmm I hate when FF renders text in a weird way. I can see though but I'm using FF 4.5.6. Try upgrading maybe? FF Help > check for updates.

Me too... Although, I'm not complaining about the consequences, and I did make the party first. Need to go inworld and change clothes, still in party garb, sleep with one shoe off.

I wonder if they got the "your region will be restarted in 5 min" message and it was late enough that nobody came back? I logged in briefly just past midnight here in Denver and there was nobody at the Hangout at that time - and then I got the 'region restart' message for my home region and so I went ahead and logged back out.

It was late. Somewhere between east coast and west coast midnight, but not certain how far from one and close to the other it was.

Just a quick note to say that last night was my first FC party, and I really enjoyed it! I'm sorry I couldn't stick around long enough to see those who showed up later; it was with real reluctance that I finally did log off.

Happy New Year to everyone, and let's do it again soon! :)

(A party, I mean. I'm happy to wait another year before doing New Year's Eve again . . . ;) )

Darn! I must have just missed you. I was there for awhile, left for about 20 minutes and when I got back everyone had left or was leaving. It was only 11:30 or so in my tz.

Thanks to everyone for posting the pictures. I added some. http://www.flickr.com/groups/forumcartel/ Brann was invisible to me the whole time  .

Earlier in the evening My husband and I met some friends on the pier near our house for the last sunset of 2009

This pelican was there too.

Then we all had dinner at a nice local place and went home before the drivers on the road got crazy.

It sounds like we have a volunteer hostess for the next party. :D

Ok, speaking of parties, I want to try and get back in the groove of having one scheduled party a month. Do we have any comments on which day of the week would be best? Anyone who wants to volunteer to host a time period. We try to include the Euros, but we need some of you to step up and help with hosting duties during those time periods.

comment here, or contact me inworld. Group chat is always open for discussion.

I was pondering Jan 23rd for a party, It seems natural since that is National Pie Day.
