Last night my son (23 yrs old) IMs me to tell me the latest on his final exams and then the conversation went like this:

Him: So, this friend I have been studying Physics with - he has the hottest looking sister. She is such an airhead that she is lost in an intelligent conversation after the second word. But, wow, what a body - I sooo what to bang her.

Me: OMG - you are not suppose to say those kind of things to your mother.

Him: Yeah, but you are only a pseudo-mom. Sort of like the best parts of a mom and the best parts of a good friend -- I can come to you with my troubles and tell you anything about life and school and girls.

Well, despite the beginnings of the conversation, I just about cried at that point. All I could respond with was "Thank you - huge hugs"

:)

/me smiles warmly

I'm glad you and your son can talk about everything. That's so important. :)

You made me see the thread title as "Ignore this thread and drop dead" :(

heh

(I've seen the above before. My brother recently told me of his own antics in this department. Apparently they were/are going to have a casino holiday party. He sent out rules for two card games to everyone on the list, as was his duty. One of the other people involved sent a reply email along the lines of, and in all caps "DO NOT DESMINATE THIS ANY FURTHER; any questions about rules call [insert name of third person handling the event and their phone number" . . . which is confusing, I suppose, since everyone who it could have had any desire to see the email were already included in the email. Yes, it is easier telling such stories if you are directly involved, heh. That above mess. Oh, and I think he sent something back, but I do not recall what; then third sent something backing up my brother. That would certainly have been amusing, I suppose, if you got these emails as opposed to been one of the three people handling the party.)

whoops. Email can be great...but boy, can it sure blow up on you, too!

I'm going to make the trip a chance for RPing. I'm going to pretend it is a bad Al Gore movie, and it's a new Ice Age and we are off to save humanity in some way.

I will play the part of the faint voice on the crackling radio, desperately pleading for help and cut off ominously in midsentence.

That's not insane; that's just the lack of a Y chromosome.

If you're going to a sunny place, you won't be needing those boots so much, will you?

Yeah, the Y chromosome is the one responsible for most ADD/ADHD.

Has anyone noticed that the majority of ADD/ADHD people are male? Y chromosome, I tell ya.

Saves on having to buy a dishwasher and a spin dryer as well.

Pep (Actually, we men work very hard at not paying attention to our wives; is it succeeding then?)

But...look at the getup the original Uhura had to wear:

Or did you mean in general what the heck were they thinking when they designed the '60s TV costumes, and thus they had to follow that theme in the recent movie?
Well I know what the heck they were thinking back in the '60's when male sci fi nerds always added half naked women to their fantasies.

The first episode of TNG had some but not all women wearing mini skirts. I imagine I was not the only one who felt outraged because then there was an episode or two which featured male and female background crew members wearing them and then they switched to realistic uniforms for everyone.

So I would have been ok with the mini skirts on all or some males and females equally. But all women in miniskirts? What in the world could possibly justify any military or paramilitary organizations doing that - except to undermine any hopes the females had of ever being equally respected? Unless the males were forced to worship women's legs or something but they didn't suggest anything like that. :p

I just saw it too and noticed that. Scylla must not have been the wardrobe consultant.

Nope, they didn't ask me even once about it . . .

Can you believe it???
Big mistake on their part.

Respect? They did the menial jobs on board. Until Janeway of course.

Pep (And what happened when she got to drive a spaceship - she got lost in the wrong part of the Universe for a couple of years and had to rely on a nerd called Reg to get her home.)

My dream/goal in life (post retirement, not before) is to live in Harlem, in NY. That's where I want to spend my golden years. I want to be rich enough to enjoy it, no pulling a 9-5. Read recently where a 875 sq ft condo sold for $150k, which is cheap. (That ain't Lindens) and that's pretty small. But on the other hand, would be no room for grown kids to 'visit'. Could be a good thing. "I want to be a part of it, New York, New York!!!"
My God Woman! Have you never seen an episode of "Law and Order"????

On the other hand if you were living there I would love to visit and have you and our other locals show me around a little.

That line was sticking in my head, and as *it is* (how's that for apostrophe-less) pertinent to this forum for me, or it was that day, I used it. Couldn't remember who sang it though, so now, I will remove the apostrophe, AND give the Eagles credit.

Ok now "Lying Eyes" is stuck in my head. At least I like it and know all the words to it. I'll be singing it out loud in a minute.
