Big time snow storm headed this way from the South. Maybe a foot of snow in my neighborhood.

I know! When did you say you are leaving? We might end up having to cancel our trip to Manhattan on Sunday.

We're expecting 10-15 inches of snow in the DC area, beginning around midnight tonight.

I'm leaving tomorrow morning, no matter what. My SUV is in the shop right now getting all tightened up and I'm showing Boomer how to use the GPS.

My dream/goal in life (post retirement, not before) is to live in Harlem, in NY. That's where I want to spend my golden years. I want to be rich enough to enjoy it, no pulling a 9-5. Read recently where a 875 sq ft condo sold for $150k, which is cheap. (That ain't Lindens) and that's pretty small. But on the other hand, would be no room for grown kids to 'visit'. Could be a good thing. "I want to be a part of it, New York, New York!!!"

Feel free to keep all that crap out east. Temps have been cold enough here that we still have snow on the ground from the few inches we received while I was at my mom's over a week ago.

I'm going to make the trip a chance for RPing. I'm going to pretend it is a bad Al Gore movie, and it's a new Ice Age and we are off to save humanity in some way.

i would LOVE to live in a NYC skyrise for about 2 years, and not own a car during that time frame. but not when i'm old. i wanna be young and strong enough to chase down the thug who just stole my purse. no, ha ha i can totally see myself lounging at a sidewalk cafe and just people watching for hours on end. i love that.

Well yeah but again that goes along with being rich enough not to have to hop the subway and go to work. I don't want to mingle with the huddled masses yearning to be free on the subway, pulling a 9-5. That's why I figure if it happens for me, it will be when I'm older, and living off my nest egg/retirement dollars. Not too old though.

Last night my son (23 yrs old) IMs me to tell me the latest on his final exams and then the conversation went like this:

Him: So, this friend I have been studying Physics with - he has the hottest looking sister. She is such an airhead that she is lost in an intelligent conversation after the second word. But, wow, what a body - I sooo what to bang her.

Me: OMG - you are not suppose to say those kind of things to your mother.

Him: Yeah, but you are only a pseudo-mom. Sort of like the best parts of a mom and the best parts of a good friend -- I can come to you with my troubles and tell you anything about life and school and girls.


Well, despite the beginnings of the conversation, I just about cried at that point. All I could respond with was "Thank you - huge hugs"
