85* weather in Jamaica sounds FABULOUS right now. i think it's about 25*F here right now. and nothing short of an ice rink outside. should make for an interesting ride to work. ugh

guns - like Brenda, i will not hesitate to use mine if i feel threatened. and anyone entering my home without my explicit permission is a threat. 'nuff said.

but, i would never take it out of my home unless i was going to the shooting range. and.... when it's not under your sleeping pillow, keep it locked up and/or with a gun lock people. ESPECIALLY if you have kids in the home.

i would never go out of my way to hurt someone. i love people (when they aren't being stupid). but if you come at me in a way that makes me afraid for my physical, i probably won't need a gun to make my point that you better back off. i'm more of a fight than flight.... sadly, that comes from years of 'training' that was certainly not wanted nor disciplined. reality is what it is, and people are who they are based on their upbringing and life experiences.

a woman (like me) can be very naive about many things, can look all sweet and innocent, and be gentle and compassionate, and appear to be an easy victim.... but looks are deceiving. don't come at me wrongly. it won't end well. that doesnt make me dangerous. but it does keep me alive.

so yesterday i had a day home. but, early in the morning the power went out and we didnt get it back until about 6pm, but then it went out again after about 45 minutes, and didnt come back on until after midnight.

thank goodness i had my sturdy shovel to keep me busy all day.

temperature update. i actually just went out and read the little thermostat. says 15*. brrrrrrr

i remember when i first moved up here and stupidly still wore dresses in winter. standing there putting gas in my car before work, my legs exposed and wearing pumps of some form... it was 14* and i thought to myself, being cute is not worth this shit. from then on i wore pants with leggings underneath, and two pairs of socks. LOL

Thank you for the hugs and like *smiles softly* I believe I only mentioned something like "probably go home to find kitty has been put to sleep". And so I follow that up to confirm kitty was put to sleep.

In jury news - I've served once. While I was going to law school. I was told day one that I would never serve because no lawyer wants anyone with any level of legal training to be on jury.

I was dismissed once or twice. Picked for second jury (or third, if I was kicked off second, can't recall now many years later). Figured they would kick me off but they didn’t kick anyone off. Neither me, nor the two traffic officers (retired, one military police). And it was a traffic case. Entire trial, including jury deliberations, lasted between 30 minutes and 45 minutes. Was sent home after that trial over. So, sent home before noon.

Oh stop bragging...... (that's just jealousy talking, glad you're back and had fun. Weather is nasty even here, in San Diego. Even nastier now that Maureen has gone home.......

OMG Summer weather. 14 was our high yesterday. Its -1°F here (-18°c) right now. But its warm here compared to my cousin's place, -9 °F!!!!

I know.......seems like an exxageration but is not. Well there was not snow but there are other nasty things besides snow. At least snow can be pretty. Yesterday in San Diego was one of those days you see in the movies where the guy is walking in pouring rain, with his umbrella turned inside out cause the wind is blowing so hard. I walked just few blocks back to work after lunch with Kaimi and Mo, and was soaked, mostly because of the wind blowing the rain. Yeah, was nasty. I felt so bad for the homeless people, they were wearing some kind of thing, that the homeless shelters give out, looks like a hefty bag with a hole cut in the top for the head. Like a poncho looking thing, plastic bag. Useless against weather like yesterday's...

Oh my... if they called me, I would have done my best to be a good juror, but I was glad I didn't have to go. I wanted to get back to work.

They didn't tell us what kind of case it was. The officer had a sheet on his table, and I can read upside down, but somehow I got the better of my curiosity.

To tell the truth, I was looking at the sheet because I wondered whether I was in the same pool as a guy sitting in my row. Turned out I wasn't. He was called and put on a jury in another trial.

They might have let us go because they were able to resolve the issue without a trial.
