oy...Southwest Airlines has rerouted me twice. Bad weather all over the US is making for fun times at airports. But lol; I'm now scheduled to leave later but get in earlier! _____________________

Yeah, I am hoping things settle quite a bit by the time I'm suppose to fly home tomorrow. Good luck. For someone who loves physically flying, I've come to despise airlines and airports and the whole horror show associated with them. I drive whenever possible now, or take trains. _____________________

Received this from Rebel Hope:
In light of events yesterday that I discovered at least four of my costume prims and textures stolen, I've marked them down to 100L each. The discovery was pretty upsetting but I had to find some way to turn it into a positive so I'm reducing the costumes that were affected down to 100L. I'll leave these costumes at this price for as long as it takes me to have my work removed from the offending designer. When you land just hit the costume teleport. Thanks to all of you who support the designers fighting the theft issues that plague Second Life. Sincerely, Rebel Hope http://slurl.com/secondlife/Monarch%20Bay/204/58/22 . _____________________

I go back and forth on this issue. Alcohol is legal and yet we still have trouble with the abuse of it and a variety of crimes and death caused from using it or being addicted to it. Yes, but we don't have alcohol distributors shooting it out in the street over turf. That ended when the Volstead Act was repealed. _____________________

Oh my... if they called me, I would have done my best to be a good juror, but I was glad I didn't have to go. I wanted to get back to work. They didn't tell us what kind of case it was. The officer had a sheet on his table, and I can read upside down, but somehow I got the better of my curiosity. To tell the truth, I was looking at the sheet because I wondered whether I was in the same pool as a guy sitting in my row. Turned out I wasn't. He was called and put on a jury in another trial. They might have let us go because they were able to resolve the issue without a trial. Remember Seven, if you get on a jury, you not only have the right, but the duty to vote your Conscience. No matter what the judge tells you, no matter how much evidence the state presents, if you think the law is wrong or being applied wrong in this case, you should vote "Not guilty". _____________________

two things:
1. I was in the kitchen making myself some dinner. Mom was lying on the couch in the living room, really exhausted. She hadn't seen me bring my laptop with me, and as I stood at the counter I started typing a post to the forum. I can type really really fast, and my touch is very light. Mom said, "Seven, is it raining?" Me: "No, I'm typing." Mom: "What in the world are you typing? I heard all these little ticks, good lord!" 2. Clio (on SC) pointed out this post. ROFL when I read the posts that are saying that its too cold in my neck of the woods.
This is actually a move to warmer weather for me. I grew up feeding cows at 5 am in -20°F (-29c) fog. Windy mornings were indescribably miserable. If you have never experienced Pogonip (white death) it can be very beautiful.... ![]() Eye of the beholder and all that. _____________________

@7 Oh I read that post about autism and it was really good. My cousin's kid is autistic and he's the coolest kid ever! I think there's quite a large community of aspies in SL and the few I've met have amazed me with their building skills. There was a sad story up here where this non-verbal autistic kid got lost in the snow with his dog .. big search for him and when his dog returned home 2 days later, they used his trail to locate him. The boy had severe hypothermia and just passed away today
![]() @Brann: Happy Rez Day .. I forgot mine this year as well. @ the travellers. I don't so much any more, but I used to regularly fly over 60,000miles a year and it's really not as fun as some think. It's so exhausting! One business trip I did, entailed 2 continents and 5 countries in less than 10 days so I feel for those that are road warriors. It all becomes one big bleary eyed blur after a while (and no I'm not a highly paid escort either ![]() I think I'm ready to order my new computer tonight! I found a 12% off online coupon on top of the sale price so go me! _____________________

" from that thread: "Second life makes me normal. And that's why I play second life." I do not have the patience to build. It frustrates me. I've never really understood the SL "makes me normal" part. I still have no idea how to interact with anyone properly. But then again, I am not autistic. (heh, should I say more or just leave it as is? heh.) _____________________

A couple of oldish photos; two of many that I have taken at AM Radio's various installations.
In the attic of the house at "The Refuge." The attic is sort of hidden away and hard-to-get-at, but it's a real little treasure if you can find it. It reminds me of the little hideouts I used to find or make when I was a child, which is perhaps not surprising as one of the more consistent themes of AM's art is nostalgia. The crystal radio set is, of course, a pun on the artist's name, but it is also a recurrent motif in his installations, representing (as I take it) the complex relationship between technology and human communication. ![]() This shot is from AM's installation, The Faraway, which is, I think, my favourite. An abandoned and rusted engine in a field of overgrown grass that still possess a bizarre and mysterious sort of power. ![]() I love this sim. _____________________

Unfortunately the Refuge and Expansion closed in June. ![]() I love taking pictures at his installations. It seems like no matter how often I go back, there's a good picture waiting to be taken. There are usually interesting avatars there, too. Join the group "The Quiet and the Far Away" for announcements regarding his work. He frequently gives away nice artwork. _____________________

Snow! YAY....yay. /me hands Rio and Seven some shovels. I'll have hot chocolate waiting when you come back in ![]() Thanks - especially for the hot chocolate! - although it wasn't too bad in Boston itself this morning. I did get hit in the shoulder by a snowball that came speeding off the Hancock Building. (The wind gets really high around that building for some reason.) KER-POW! It was only a surprise though. My boss, who lives out west, hasn't made it in yet. |
