Oh, they do! The booties have bean bag type inserts which can be warmed up in the microwave (same as the wrap), and then...mmmm nice and toasty warm...with a hint of lavender scenting the air...

I bet you're counting the days...minutes... :)

Kaimi & Mo, so glad you had a nice visit. i really really wish i could have been there too. very much!
We talked about you. It would have been so cool if you had been there. The weather was amazingly un-like SD but at least the heat was on in the restaurant and there was no snow to shovel. Hope everything is warm cozy and hot and cold running water working correctly at your place now. When ARE you coming to SD?

From: Maureen Boccaccio
And just to add to Kaimi and Treasure's comments:

...Treasure is just that...a treasure. Smart, witty, lovely. ...
It was a great, great day. :)
It was magic. Did you finally get home?

I go back and forth on this issue. Alcohol is legal and yet we still have trouble with the abuse of it and a variety of crimes and death caused from using it or being addicted to it.
From: Chris Norse
Yes, but we don't have alcohol distributors shooting it out in the street over turf. That ended when the Volstead Act was repealed.
This. It's got to be better to put our resources towards helping people with substance abuse problems than persecuting them.

From: Brann Georgia
Wow, I missed my own rez day :)
Now that you mention it mine was last month, I forgot all about it. Happy Belated Rez Day Brann.

From: Rafe Phoenix
ROFL when I read the posts that are saying that its too cold in my neck of the woods.
This is actually a move to warmer weather for me. I grew up feeding cows at 5 am in -20°F (-29c) fog. Windy mornings were indescribably miserable.

If you have never experienced Pogonip (white death) it can be very beautiful....

Eye of the beholder and all that.
Lovely picture. The most money I ever made as a cabbie in Wichita was during ice storms. I enjoyed the seasons when I lived there, but if I never see snow up close again I won;t mind.
Growing up on a dairy farm or cattle ranch probably never turned anyone into any kind of sissy, especially in a place with extreme winters.

Yay! New computers for everybody!

For those who cannot afford a major wallet hit, fyi I did something I swore I would never do: bought a used desktop. Had it for a month or two now, running beautifully, have checked every stat I know of and all is well. There were three from various people similar to this for $400:

Asus gaming motherboard
CPU: Intel Core 2 Series E6850 Processor (3005 MHz)
Memory: 3328 MB (actually has 6MB installed)
OS Version: Windows 7 Ultimate
Graphics Card: GeForce 8800 GS/PCI/SSE2
HD audio (5 speaker home theatre capable)
Built-in wireless
CD/DVD read/write 16x
Keyboard & wireless mouse

All drivers were up to date. Gamers and 3D artists who are moving on to bigger and better machines frequently seem to offer good deals on the rigs they're done with.
Wow. Thanks. This is something I should think about.

Hey, has anyone else been getting old IMs?

The first one I got was from my alt, from a month ago. Then I got one or two from other people, but the messages were obviously old (and I remembered receiving them before).

Not here, but I would like to read some of the resulting conversations from this little bug. Something said in jest a month ago could easily be taken out of context today.

From: Lexxi Gynoid

I've never really understood the SL "makes me normal" part. I still have no idea how to interact with anyone properly.

Yay for all of you getting new computers! We are getting...FIOS! This Sunday! The Geek is running around, moving computers and routers and cables and black boxes hither and yon, when he isn't holding some mysterious power brick in his hand, scratching his head, and muttering, "what does THIS one go to?"

FIOS~~~WOOT WOOT!!!

I had to find the power supply to an old external dvd-R not long ago. It was one of the first cables I pulled out of 'The Box' but I didn't recognize it so I spent another 1/2 hour asking myself 'what's this one for?" /me shakes head and eats a cookie.

I always enjoy going down to the private computer shops to see what people have dropped off to be fixed and never come back for. Great deals if you hit it at the right time.

Being a cabbie in Wichita during ice storms sounds like a hazzard pay job.
I love the country life but its gotten to where the rural family ranchers and farmers can barely make ends meet anymore.
