From: 3Ring Binder i'm a-scared to meet a huge group of people all at the same time. but, i've never really been to Vegas properly......
.oO(/me considers it) But as Maureen said the other day here, it's like instant friend. You aren't 'meeting a huge group of people', you are just saying, Oh, hey, it's you! ETA: I mean, Lindal said it, I think, somebody said it, and, it's true! Now there are some folks who just don't want to meet up in real, and that's cool. Is definitely a choice thingie.

And it's nice to be joining right now, Melissa, as so many shops have holiday-related gifties, most are for 0L.

From: Chris Norse Seven has a list of decent freebies for new residents. Melissa, I know you said you didn't want it (and it certainly sounds like you don't need it), but in case someone else does, it's a list of stuff that's free to people who are younger than 30 days: http://slfreestyle.blogspot.com/2009/08/list-under-30-days-avatar-resources.htmlone of the best things on there is an AO from LAP (Long Awkward Pose). An AO is a thing that makes you walk more naturally.

My first day I found a free box with like a gazillion animations. Some random person sent me a note with a list of freebie shops on it.

Hey there - did you see the Forum Cartel notice from Slack Zapedski about keeping in touch with the Forum Cartel group chat whilst outside SL?? Group Notice From: Slack Zapedzki We've set up a channel for inworld/outworld group communication on zonkster.com. Only group members can read and post to a group channel so you'll need to confirm by touching the sign up screen near the bar at the Hangout (activate our group tag, touch the screen and wear the HUD (it attaches to center2)). On the web: go to http://www.zonkster.com and hit "group chat" to stay in touch when you're outworld!

From: Rafe Phoenix Holey moley!!! What's the CFM rating on that thing? That actually looks a little like mine, but mine doesn't have the big fan on the front. It's black with clear sides and blue neon/LEDs inside. I built it myself. When I have money for upgrades I want to put in watercooling, switch out the neon for blacklight and put fluorescent dye in the water. I'm such a geek.

From: Maureen Boccaccio I was SO fired up to go to the SLCC when they were talking about it being in Vegas. Then it got moved to SF, and the airfare/hotel costs just got prohibitive. But Vegas, baby!! That would be fun. I just looked it up and on Expiedia, a round trip ticket to Vegas is 1/2 the cost of the same dates to Frisco would be for me The Vegas trip is 3 hours longer too. WTF? It must be the casinos supplementing the airfare or California's emissions taxes (if there is such a thing.)

From: Melissa Jaynesford That would be because it's my first week in Second Life. Thanks for the welcome. PS: If links go in img tags then what makes images, italic tags? Welcome to the 'hood Melissa! Sounds like you're doing well already but I'll drop you a notecard in-world later that I give to new folks and it has a bunch of helpful stuff like landmarks to freebie places, places to explore, and external links to SL related websites for everything from content creation to fashion and freebies. Hope you enjoy your stay

I know many/(most?) of you are way far away from Vegas/west coast, just thought of it as a fun place to gather, could just as well be NYC or Atlantic City, eh.

I have not added any neon but my graphics board and MoBo make a nice light show. I have the StrikerII Extreme that is water ready and the water kit is under my bed waiting for me to get the bug. Come to think of it when I bought the kit last winter it was snowing, I had better hook it up soon or sell it.

The cheapest San Fran ticket is $381 and is 1h 3m and the Vegas one is $203 and 4h1m. I was just comparing the cost ratio. ETA~When Angel and I went to Frisco this summer the room at The Hotel California was like a typical Motel 6 room and it cost 60 dollars more a night than a nice suite with a jacuzzi at the Peppermill here.

Hmm all I'm getting is a boring black box with my new computer. I'm thinking I might get this replacement case. Functional yet elegant in design (probably only runs SL at medium ) Check out some of these crazy ones: http://www.darkroastedblend.com/2007/06/cool-computer-case-mods.htmlhttp://www.darkroastedblend.com/2008/07/cool-computer-case-mods-part-2.html

From: Eli Schlegal 4 hours to fly from Reno to Vegas??? Are you going via Chicago? The last time I flew from Vegas up here because well... I couldn't drive my pickup back it was 45 minutes. Every flight from here to Vegas is with a Phoenix layover, 3 hrs 55 minutes to 4 hours 20 minutes. I even tried flights in Jan and Feb, Expedia offers no direct flights. I would be better off buying at the airport I guess. ED....Ohh I found a flight to Vegas that goes through LAX for $131 but its 5hr 37mn.

lol...had to share this. A colleague related a story about one of her students' assignments. Each student was supposed to visit, then write a report on, a local tourist attraction, and then give a presentation to the class about their visit. The student chose the restaurant, Hooters. LOL, I really did spit water all over the conference table when she told us about the student.

the maintenance and time to keep that clean would not be worth whatever initial eye-candy moment you might get from it.

From: 3Ring Binder the maintenance and time to keep that clean would not be worth whatever initial eye-candy moment you might get from it. Its water cooled, you can see the radiator at the bottom. The OC you can get with it might be worth the extra effort. FFS I would not want a totally open case, NM not worth it.
