LMAO a living, breathing remote. I love it. However, am not willing to give birth to provide that little trinket. Last nite, I was talking with a very straight-laced friend in SL, no kink at all there. I was being very professional, wearing my Virtual Ability tag (/me adjusts halo) when suddenly my rl son tp'd in, in full neko glory. I sighed, and introduced him, can't deny him, eh. The person I was talking to said 'you gave birth to a neko?'. Maybe he missed the 'rl' part, not sure, but he obviously didn't get that THIS IS SL......Had to laugh, and guess I did but ain't giving birth to anyone else, that was it.
Lol.

i think i eat the chocolates just for the messages. i currently have two at my computer. "Spoil yourself today" and "Remind yourself that it's ok not to be perfect"
Clover, I love you, but "eat the chocolates just for the messages" ???? I would eat those chocolates by the pound if they were wrapped in (clean) scraps of brown paper.

But I hope you do follow the advice to "Spoil yourself today" and "Remind yourself that it's ok not to be perfect"

I had a friend like that when I lived in England. In fact he compulsively cleaned the whole house whenever he came over.
I need this friend.

I remember our family being the first to get a color TV.
Old as I am I don't remember ever not having a tv. But I never had a color tv until I met my husband when I was 39. Now I've grown accustomed to our 52" model...

From: Maureen Boccaccio
lol, sable; I remember waiting FOREVER to get a color tv. And wow...the first time we saw "The Wizard of Oz" in color...I realized why everyone had gotten so excited about the scene when Dorothy's house lands and she opens the door in Munchkinland!!
The first time I saw "The Wizard of Oz" was at the movies. No, I wasn't born when it first came out but I was old enough to go see it in the days when it was still being periodically shown at the cinema.

From: sable Valentine
Wasn't that just magical! Like being at the pictureshow (as my deceased grandmother used to call but only in your home. :D
The kids in my neighbor hood always called going to the movies, "going to the show".

...

Today's remote that is capable of controlling every doohickey within a city block as long as you can figure out the damn codes.

...
Operating our tv and cable hard drive requires two remotes and three pages of instructions (with photographs, numbers and arrows) which I have prepared for house sitters, etc. And just last week while we were out of town it took both my husband and me 15 minutes on the phone to talk our housemate back from where pushing some wrong buttons had gotten him to where he wanted to be.

I was just reading about the call for applications for the 2010 Linden Prize and just realized that Treasure's group - Virtual Ability, was the co-winner last year for the inaugural prize. Uhm BELATED CONGRATULATIONS TREASURE! ... :p
Um from me too, Treasure. (Unless I did actually congratulate you at the time in which case it certainly bears repeating.)

OMG the dial, had forgotten about the dial channel changer.
When I worked in a tv factory my job was aligning those dials so they actually did bring in the stations.

Thank you 3! It feels great to have someone as cool as you tell me that.

I just came across this "dry brining" method for turkey. I might give it a go this Christmas.

Yes, it seems way easier than regular brining. I've only tried the wet method once and it was a real pain, having to keep this giant bird inside a big cooler that I had to keep outside because it would never fit in the fridge. It was good and moist but the texture did seem a bit funny and apparently with this method you get the juiciness without the slightly spongy texture. I also didn't like the wet brining method because the pan drippings were way too salty even though the actual meat was fine. Here's some extra info:

Everything you do you do in such a COOL way, Mari.

The forum has me back in MST again. I was there last week in rl, but I didn't have my computer with me. It's just weird to see my own posts as having happened in the future.

I love trampolines!

Early in my SL, I found a free one..somewhere...and set it up at the Hangout. Boy, we had a lot of fun on that thing. lol...at one point, with the angle it was set to, we were bouncing into the water. :D

And good morning, Threadies. :)

Our offices close at noon today...so I decided to take off the morning. :) There's something so...satisfying about sleeping in a little bit later on what's supposed to be a work day. :)

Howdy folks!

Great looking breakfast.

I'm looking forward to another 4 day weekend. I hope everyone has a great weekend even if you don't celebrate Thanksgiving in your corner of the globe.

With the holidays and using up some leftover over vacation days I know I'll be getting spoiled. I'm already dreading January when I'll have to work a full 5 day week again.

:D

I think this came up recently, but the talk about "living remotes" immediately had this scene from "So I Married an Ax Murderer" popping into my head.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=varaAADgC84&feature=related

When I was a kid we had a trampoline in the back yard for several years. I don't remember there ever being any serious injuries (I think we were lucky). The scary part is our back yard looked just like Mari's.

*waves to Tex*

oh geez, I'd forgotten that scene. :p

Regarding trampolines. I cannot recall anyone getting injured when I was a kid. I even remember in my parents' hometown there was a...trampoline park! It seems as if there were at least...10 trampolines set up. They were not like the one depicted in Mari's pic; these were affixed to the ground, each over its own..pit.

ETA: whoa! I just found a pic of what I meant!

Poor dear. I'm biting the bullet for the holidays, because saving up vacation time for a big family vacation in July. I'll need 3 full weeks minimum, so will be one of the few covering at work while others have a restful, lovely holiday season. The highlight of my holidays will be lunch with Maureen and Kaimi, but then again, that's quite a highlight, eh? :)

Lunch with Maureen and Kaimi does sound like quite a highlight.

Of course a 3 week vacation sounds pretty good as well. :)
