are you kidding? OMG! the morning. the smells. the campfire. the snuggling in sleeping bags. it is heaven.
Being surrounded by nature instead of people. Being able to see a gazillion stars at night.

I started smoking in 5th grade - 10 yrs old. I have had chronic bronchitis for more years than I can remember. It took a diagnosis of emphysema, 2 yrs ago, to get me to finally be successful in quitting. Luckily, I was diagnosed very early due to a voluntary lung scan that I had done and my emphysema is very mild right now.
Bless your heart, Lil. Thank goodness you quit before too much damage was done.

Ten year-olds typically have even less sense than adults when it comes to deciding to take up smoking. I hope that now smoking is a lot less ubiquitous fewer young people will be deciding to become smokers.

And I've heard from more than a few people that quitting nicotine is harder than kicking heroine, cocaine and pretty much every other addicting substance.

or maybe a weekend retreat out in the woods .....
I know either one with all of you would do me a lot of good.

my "chew" story:

My brother and I attended the same university. My senior year, I had the use of one of our family's cars. When my brother needed it, he'd stop by, pick up the keys and leave me a note. :)

One time I came back to my room and found his note. The last, and I might add, most important, part of the note was obscured by what *looked like* a chocolate macaroon...

It was not.

All I had read was "Took car; I left you a little"

I missed the last word hidden under his "gift":

"chew"...

I was mightily disappointed when I popped it into my mouth.

(and yes, you'd think I would have noticed ahead of time, but hey...I was already thinking "chocolate!!!!!" ... :o )
 That sounds like one of the most disappointing and shocking experiences ever.

Just a note of historical reverberation....JFK was assassinated in Dallas 46 years ago today.
I was in the high school lunch patio when I first heard about it - at first I thought it was a joke. Then someone brought a radio into English class... and everyone said they'd never forget where they were when they first heard the news. We were all glued to the tv for the next few days.

G'mornin an G'evening, all!

I wanna say this was another slow weekend, but when I say that people remind me that slow f'r me might be different f'r them. Plus, really, I spended a lot of the weekend up in the workshops, making stuff f'r Yuletide an all.

So anyways, the testing on Cubey Terra's parachute got finished, an he's now released the Terra Starburst. It's fun! Heres a shot I took of myself over the Bay City Municipal airport jes cuz. I think I'll keep it in this color scheme f'r now, too.

I'm actually gonna stretch things a bit an go back to Thursday, because I wasn't in much on Friday due to RL stuffs. An there were two big things on thursday anyways.

For one, the Ryman Auditorum opened in Bay City. It's a recreation of the Grand Ole Opry building, and designed as a live music venue. It's a very cool building that looks like the for-real one. Here's a shot from the opening show, during Sojourn Rossini's performance.

Also that day, Redd Columbia had an early (or late, if you happen to be Canadian) thanksgiving event. This was a party at her house, with the traditional spread an all, but it was also a fundraiser, getting money for feedthekids.org. All told, L$122,315 was raised, which is about $438.22 USD. Not too shabby!

Anyways, here's a shot of a bunch of is in the kitchen at Redd's.

An in the living room with my book o' food. We all had to actually put our food (which we bought at the event for our donation) in the back of Redd's pickup, for delivery.

For this weekend's Kid Scouts, we went on a trip on the rails to learn about trains. Here's a shot of our train, a commuter train from the netherlands, as it sped about.

An that's about it, really!

Hope everyone else had a great weekend, and the best of weeks ahead!

Looking at the recent vanity photos I am reminded of an old Russian proverb about there being no ugly women . . .

Pep ( . . . but that sometimes there is not enough vodka.)

I'm sure the Russian women have a reciprocal proverb. :D

That reminds me; I tried to get a car for my wife over the weekend.

They have fun pairs of free roller and ice skating skates at Abranimations right at the landing spot Rafe. It has a hud and you can do tricks and things.

Excellent -thanks, Josh!!

lol...I must have a dozen pairs of skates in my inventory. I should go get the ones at Abranimations and then go through my stash. :)

I meant to stop by the opening of the Grand Ole Opry - it looks great!

And what a great idea for a fundraiser! *smiles*

That train looks AWESOME. I know how much you enjoy a train trip. *smiles*

Thanks again, Mari. You've put a smile on my face to start my work week.

Good gracious! And here I was thinking that you had Wednesday legs and it was Rhonda and Brann who had lardy thighs.

Some people change their clothes every now and then. I wear a lot of different looks, depending on what mood I'm in or where I am going.

It isn't *you* I am worrying about . . .

Pep ( . . . it's that stalker of a gf you have.)

PS Aren't you worried that she's trying to encourage you to be a Pep-alike?

So for those of you who will be celebrating Thanksgiving this week...what goodies are "must haves" at your gathering?

For me:

Turkey
stuffing / dressing
mashed potatoes
cranberry sauce (which I make, tyvm; none of that canned stuff on Turkey Day)
Two types of pie: pumpkin and mincemeat

For me, Thanksgiving does require a good homemade cranberry sauce or relish, fragrant stuffing, turkey, sweet potatoes or yams, mashed potatoes, a soft red or strong white wine, good people to share it with, and a place to lie down afterward.

Where are your vegetables young lady!

A lot of people will disagree but roasted brussel sprouts are a must have on my menu. We had those along with asparagus, spaghetti squash, beets and roasted yams this year. I'm not a fan of pumpkin pie. I always make cranberry sauce from scratch as well ... it's so easy peasy that I don't quite get the stuff from a can. I wish this place had a cooking sub-forum lol.

LOL, Josh!

I love veggies...there aren't any "must haves" on Turkey Day. Any veggie (lol, with the exception of turnips!!!! ) is fine in my book.

Usually we have green beans in some form, butternut squash, and someone makes creamed onions.

This is how I looked just after I left Welcome Island.

And one of the few pics of me without wings, about 6 months in, when I did a photo shoot at Bare Rose. :)

And when I was dancing for Dan's SkyDancers.

Lots of fun memories!

Must haves/traditional family stuff: Auntie Tina's homemade dressing/gravy; Cousin Shirelle's collard greens/mustard greens mix; Treasure's potato salad (yes is odd for a Thanksgiving item but they love it so much it's on all the holiday menus); and the standard turkey and for us, brisket. Many of my family don't eat pork so we don't do ham, but beef brisket instead. Desserts: Treasure's banana pudding and niece Melissa's german chocolate cake. Will also be mac and cheese, candied yams and possibly mashed potatoes and gravy.
