From: Pserendipity Daniels My mother quit at 68, right after she found out she had to have a cancerous piece of her lung cut out.
Pep (That was ten years ago, and when I go home now, the house has white ceilings, not cream ones.) Good for her. My father-in-law quit after cancer left him breathing through a hole in his throat. During my short career as an emergency medical technician, on an ambulance crew, about 1/4 of our calls were to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease patients in respiratory distress. Normal people take a breath when the amount of CO2 in their blood climbs to a certain level. COPD patients aren't prompted to take a breath until the amount of oxygen in their blood drops to a certain level. So the paramedics can only give them a small amount of oxygen or they will stop their breathing entirely. They can never take a good breath of air ever. Almost all the COPD patients had oxygen tanks next to their sofas. And most of them had a pack of cigarettes on their coffee table. It was sad.

From: Kylie Jaxxon Good for her....yes, another drawback to smoking, the nicotine throughout. My youngest is thankful his backpack doesn't smell anymore That smell was the worst thing about being a bartender - ugh. Now mercifully, in CA at least, there is no smoking in restaurants or bars.

From: Seven Okelli ... Anyway, I've started up my blog again for the third time ( http://seven.mothmade.com/). I'm writing the blog scripts myself as I go along, so all the bells and whistles aren't yet there, like the rss feed for instance, or links to other ppl's blogs. ... LOL. My reaction to the chocolate would be exactly like Six's. Yuck who WOULD put raisins in it? Can I have some?

From: Maureen Boccaccio ... "Dave" and me (The "real" statue is not in front of the Palazzo Vecchio, as depicted here; it's in the Accademia. There's a replica here in Piazza della Signoria.) I saw what seemed to be a "real" version at the Louvre back in the 60's...

Hello all and, just so we can circumvent any misunderstandings, yes I've been here many times in many different guises. I'm actually breaking a long standing promise to myself by posting in this thread, but I thought that extraordinary times called for extraordinary measures. Over the past wee while I've watched this thread grow with some bemusement, but also with much affection. It's not really my kind of thing, but one can't help but notice what a warm and friendly place it is and how it offers a very particular type of companionship to those who call it home. My feeling therefore, on returning to find that there is some sort of self destructive force at work, is what a shame. It seems a tragic waste to throw away something which has provided such succour to so many people on the basis of what, from an objective opinion, looks like a spat with Pep of all people! I'm no great fan of Pep's. In fact I have in the past cut my visits to the forums short because I realised that he brought out a side of me that I wasn't particulary proud of. At which point, he of course didn't hesitate in beating his chest and declaring another "win". The truth of the matter is of course I could care less, it was me I was concerned with, not him. For the most part though he's pretty harmless and his postings have without doubt made the forums a far more interesting place. I've also seen him actually be quite warm and friendly with people, albeit with an ascerbic edge.. just to show he's not going soft in his old age! From my point of view I also have to say that you reap what you sow. I'm pretty sure that I've seen almost every one of you support him on at least one occasion as he tore into an unsuspecting target. Pep is what he is, he lives a largely Walter Mitty-esque existence here on these boards, but then isn't that the point of SL and these boards for all of us to a degree? Some play out fantasies involving their physical appearance, others use various resources to accentuate what is actually a very mediocre intellect. The whole point being of course that Pep is (hopefully) playing a game which he enjoys and doesn't mind being caught out in. Otherwise why write a blog in which he quite happily reveals himself to lead a mundane life as a married man, living in Milton Keynes of all places, working as some sort of junior manager for a small local lighting company? As for the whole "who said what" thing. It looks to me as though both sides here are enjoying the "drama" to a degree, but in the process it would be very sad to see it get out of hand and ruin something so warm and cosy. There I've said my piece, and really if the only purpose this little note of mine serves is to help both sides forget their differences in order to attack a common and deserving foe.. I'm quite happy to fill that role..

From: Lexxi Gynoid I'm looking at making a werewolf picture. If I can't figure that out, I can put my Princess Leia outfit on. I was leaning away from that since I took a picture of that in November 2007. Of course it was just a snap I took. No work on hair or like. LMAO loving that crazy jabba the hut. ha ha do this one. star wars is never wrong.

From: 3Ring Binder are you kidding? OMG! the morning. the smells. the campfire. the snuggling in sleeping bags. it is heaven. Hmmmm . . . Smell = rotting leaves campfire = the interminable smell of smoke in EVERYTHING Snuggling in sleeping bags = not NEARLY as nice as snuggling on a nice mattress under a duvet. And lots and lots more room to . . . well, snuggle, there too. (Sleeping bags are VERY constricting)
