the thought of buying a new hair makes me uneasy. i love my hair and dont think i will ever change it. For the longest time I had one avatar. The same hair, horns, skin, shape, tattoo, and all that. My shape evolved slowly over time, and continues to. Lately I've been wearing more varied avatars, although I keep the same personal shape and usually the same tattoo. Variety can be good too! _____________________

the thought of buying a new hair makes me uneasy. i love my hair and dont think i will ever change it. Most of the time I'm in the same hair I've been in since late 2006. I do have a couple other styles I'll wear for other occasions, though I will still usually wear the bangs off my usual hair. _____________________

Bald and bare foot maybe, but not naked. I also have a small set of ancient full perm system shoes that I use. If anyone wants a copy of this folder, send me an IM. . |

I am really attached to my hair,so much I actually bought all 50 colors of it.:/ I do have other hair as well that I wear occasionally. I'm very attached to my skin too. I really need to branch out more. I have tons of non human avatars, but only one human skin...strange.

Surely the Sinead O'Connor look would be sensible if you are going there to try on hair?

I'm at the Hair Fair right now, and there's someone here shouting about removing all prims etc in the interest of reducing lag. I cam over to find someone stood next to her with the most flexi, primmy hair possible. 100prim fer foot shoes, belly ring, bangles up each arm, a primmy chain necklace complete with insane bling, and full evening gown with prim skirt. Do people have no common sense?? http://analutetia.com/blog/anatomy-of-lag/ . _____________________

All the system clothes layers get baked along with the skin into one single texture that is used to "paint" your avatar mesh. So no, there is no NEED to go naked. Bald and bare foot maybe, but not naked.) Avatar Rendering Cost Shows That Hair is Prohibitively Laggy! Since Linden Lab introduced Avatar Rendering Cost as an option on the Debug menu, people have been shocked at how terrible hair is! This has lead hair designers to despair — the better hair looks, the more likely it’s going to clash with the ARC Nazis, who are always eager to shout angrily “Remove your hair now! You’re lagging the sim!” So this means that as a hair designer you have a difficult trade-off to deal with: either please your customers but displease the ARC Nazis, meaning that common residents will avoid gorgeous designs (or just use it privately at home) because they fear they’ll be lagging the sim… Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, prim hair usually uses just one or two textures at most, and it often uses the most simplest of prims, because they’re the ones that can get flexified (when flexible sculpties become a standard feature of the Linden viewer, as they already are on some viewers, there will be a new Hair Renaissance!). They still get a very high rating on ARC, because, of course, “lots of prims” will always get a higher rating, specially if they have a lot of alpha textures on each prim’s face (which will be the case for most of the very primmy hair). But… high ARC does not create sim lag! Seriously! A prim is just a prim, 200 prims on the ground or attached to an avatar’s head take exactly the same time to rezz (actually, prim hair will rezz first, since all attachments have priority when downloading). So what’s the problem with high-ARC prim hair (or shoes)? To understand this, you will need to know that here is sim lag, and there is client lag. Sim lag happens on SL’s grid and affects everybody on the same sim. Client lag is what you experience on your own computer. _____________________

I am in one of those despairing of SL moods. I hope I am just tired. I am really not a change person. I can handle some changes, but I like a bit of continuity.
That said SL really forces me to stretch and learn to contend with change better. I will be glad when this whole Adult content thing is said and done. It seems to me they are borking several things to get it rolled out. So, it looks like one of those long bumpy rides until our SL experience smooths out a bit. I think I need to take a couple days to just relax and do some exploring. Maybe finally get some snapshots up on a flickr account. Anyhow, hope everyone is doing fine in thier own adventures. |

I'm definitely through kvetching about Zindra or pretty much anything LL does from now on for that matter. Let the prims fall where they may. I must also admit to some schadenfreude. A part of me is hoping the whole Zindra scheme fails miserably, that LL's "Millions of unheard voices" never materialize, the corps never come back and LL gets spanked. Then maybe theywill realize there are plenty of people who will throw money at them already here, and leave them alone.

From now on, anytime anyone bitches about lag and removing prims, etc... I am sending them this link: http://analutetia.com/blog/anatomy-of-lag/ . Oh! Well I didn't know that. No more complaining about primmy people causing lag. Thanks Lil ![]() _____________________
