I have no kindergarten stories. From: Eli Schlegal That's an amazing story. How many people these days can say they married someone they knew since kindergarten? Maybe our parents generations could... but these days the way people move around, probably not many. My mother ended up basically moving every three years as a kid. Daughter of an army officer. Father stayed in same place as a kid. Father and mother moved all over the place before second child (father in air force). Retired from Air Force as didn't want kids to have the disruptions mother had as child. (edit in that they meet at college) Rather wish they had moved around. At least once. I really needed a chance to start over with a new group of neighbors/students when high school started (I actually begged them to move, heh). At least I thought so right before I started. And after I'd been there. oh well. heh. I've lived in the same area my whole life. I'm eternally trapped. If people end up coming back, living more lives on earth, I'll probably end up here again. Forever. life after life. Never leaving. I mean living elsewhere beyond breaks for school, or vacation (not that I've ever had a vacation - I've been places, like England and Mexico but one, England, was school classes in England, second was vacation-like, but between college semesters). I did go to college far away (two different, one graduate). Same state though. Large state.

I moved 3 times before kindergarten, again in the middle of my kindergarten year, the middle of my third grade year, the middle of my 6th grade year, the summer before 10th grade, the middle of my 11th grade year, and then I moved out of the house for college after high school graduation. None of my parents were in the military, my mother just seem to have a thing for marriages and divorces.

From: Treasure Ballinger My first day of kindergarten was memorable too. I met a boy, who lived a few blocks away from me. He looked up my dress, as I went up the slide. Guess that started a pattern. 2 years later he cut off one of my braids (I had 2 long, thick pigtails) as he sat behind me in class. He's still looking up my dress today, as I"m married to him. Awwww

From My In-Box...
06-03-2009 09:40
And this one was a fun read- so thought i would share...
"From Miss Rose Bayo. Abidjan. Cote D'Ivoire West Africa Email:rose_bayo10@hotmail.com Dearest One, I am the only Daughter of my late parents Mr.and Mrs.George .D, Bayo. My father was a highly reputable busnness magnet who operated in the capital of Ivory coast during his days. It is sad to say that he passed away mysteriously in France during one of his business trips abroad on the 12th September 2003. Though his sudden death was linked or rather suspected to have been masterminded by an uncle of his who travelled with him at that time. But God knows the truth! My mother died when I was just 6yrs old, and since then my father took me so special. Before his death on September 2003, he called me and informed me that he has the sum of Ten Million, Seven Hundred thousand United State Dollars.(USD$10,700,000.00)left in fixed deposit account in one of the leading banks in Africa. He further told me that he deposited the money in my name, and also gave me all the necessary but legal documents to this fund with the bank. I am just 21 years old and a university undergraduate and really don't know what to do. Now I want an account overseas where I can transfer this funds and after the transaction I will come and reside permanently in your country till such a time that it will be convinient for me to return back home if I so desire. This is because I have suffered a lot of set backs as a result of incessant political crisis here in Ivory coast. The death of my father actually brought sorrow to my life. I also want to invest the fund under your care because I am ignorant of business world. I am in a sincere desire of your humble assistance in this regards. Your suggestions and ideas will be highly regarded. Now permit me to ask these few questions: 1. Can you honestly help me from your heart? 2. Can I completely trust you? 3. What percentage of the total amount in question will be good for you after the money is in your account? Please, consider this and get back to me as soon as possible. Immedaitely I confirm your willingness, I will send to you The Detail and also inform you more details involved in this matter. Kind Regards, Miss Rose Bayo."

Threadies, I'm going to Blue Linden's office hours later today to argue for keeping these Forums. If you have a comment to make in support of the Forums, can you post it in "If the Answers 'forum' is a non-starter, where to next?" thread? I'm cutting and pasting all constructive comments into a Notecard to give to Blue at the meeting.
Let's make an effort!

Howdy folks! I don't remember much about kindergarten, but I definately remember starting 1st grade. Up until I started 1st grade I was Ricky, I'm not even sure I knew my given name was Richard. So during the first few minutes of the first day at catholic school this huge mean nasty ogre of a nun we had as a teacher starts calling out "Richard". I had no idea that she meant me. She proceeded to chew me out telling me that my proper name was Richard and that when she called Richard I had better answer. Well, a week later my family moved out to the suburbs and I was enrolled in public school and never went back to a catholic school again. However, I've gone by my "proper" name, Richard, ever since.

Awwww! Scary! And I know how you feel, only I was older (12) by the time I got to parochial school. After rolling my uniform skirt at the waist so it barely skimmed my azz, I could always outrun the nuns. They'd chase us after school because our boyfriends would come park outside the school in their hopped up cars, and the nuns would try to keep us from getting in the cars. They were still wearing habits at the time though.....my memories aren't scary like yours is!

Well Tex,my brother's name is Richard and he grew up with everyone calling him Ricky. He hated it and I thought it was a pretty dumb name compared to Richard as well. We call him Rich or Richard now. So maybe that stupid nun had at least one good point in her life.

My 'trib to the SF photo day. This outfit has no other name than 'AI boy', because he makes me think of a rundown android that's had to repair himself and cobble together a look from wherever he can steal and find things. It started life when I saw the skin as a retiring dollarbie on a freebie blog. It's a female skin, but I *knew* I could do something with that face, while covering the more feminine assets I already had a ton of BareRose stuff in inventory that I could use, and in fact I didn't need to buy anything extra to put this look together. In Flickr parlance, they're Best Viewed Large, so links instead of embeds. My first-day-in-kindergarten memory. I met the girl (for the first time) who became my best friend on the playground outside before school started. We introduced ourselves to each other but not to anyone else. As it turned out, her house was almost right behind mine. We stayed friends until we graduated high school.
Only one child cried. I won't say his name, but he was a boy with curly blond hair. At nap time he fell sound asleep. It seemed that the rest of the day was spent trying to awaken him.
It was a Catholic school. The nun who taught us asked me questions about my family. I answered them simply and truthfully. She turned the things I said into outlandish fibs which she told my older sister. My family still teases me about it and no one believes that I didn't say the stupid things she says I did.
The first day of second grade, the same curly-haired boy was standing next to me in line because we were the same height. We were third in line. He showed me his new pencil box which had a cool sliding lid. Then for some reason he took the eraser off the end of a pencil. He stuck it in his nose and couldn't get it out. The teacher led him off by the hand. He was crying again!
I guess he was TRYING to show off for my benefit.
Just so you don't need to ask: We never got married.

ETA - this does not mean I was not otherwise a victim of my parents' fanatical religious upbringing.

I used to ride the school bus with a boy named Scott. I HATED him. Thought he was a huge jerk. He teased me mercilessly, stuck grasshoppers down my back, pulled my hair, etc. I only found out 2 years later that everyone else knew that he liked me, and I was too dense to realize it. I was a big geek back then.
