OMG I hope it goes better than THAT did!

My first day of kindergarten, I wore a red, white and blue dress.

My teacher, jokingly said I looked like the American flag and we should hang me up next to the one in the classroom. She apparently didn't realize this comment, to a 5 year old who was, sort of an emotional child, would be taken literally.

I don't remember if I began crying or not, however, I do remember going home and NOT wanting to go back to school the next day. Took a lot of coaxing on my mom's part to get me there.

I did get over it, and Kindergarten was a very good memory for me. Loved the teacher in fact, it was just a stupid thing she said that day :p

OMG! ha ha ha poor you and poor teacher if it made you cry.

my first day of kindergarten is also memorable. i was in the afternoon class, and was first in line. the morning class started to come out, and one of the little boys came out and punched me in the nose as he went by. it was pretty traumatic at the time.

about 2 years later i found out his name (so, 2nd grade i guess), and i also discovered that he live the next street up from me. i remember stalking him, and beating him up one day.

after that, we were boyfriend and girlfriend on and off all through elementary school. i have never forgotten that relationship or his name. i wonder where he is today. probably in jail. he was nothing short of BIG, destructive trouble as a preteen, but i moved away and never saw him again.

Great story too! I bet he isn't in jail. He's probably a congressman or something :p

My first day of kindergarten was memorable too. I met a boy, who lived a few blocks away from me. He looked up my dress, as I went up the slide. Guess that started a pattern. 2 years later he cut off one of my braids (I had 2 long, thick pigtails) as he sat behind me in class. He's still looking up my dress today, as I"m married to him.

Good luck and have fun at work today Elora!

Cute story, Treasure. :)

So what's the outfit of the day? Fantasy/Sci-Fi? I should just collect everyone's postings and put them in the erstwhile fantasy/sci-fi calendar, LOL.

And I'm all for 60F weather. I'll take it over 90F any day! :p
Except that the 60F is mostly cloudy with sprinkles and rain off and on -- too gloomy. I want 70s with more sun than clouds.

That's an amazing story. How many people these days can say they married someone they knew since kindergarten? Maybe our parents generations could... but these days the way people move around, probably not many.

Yeah there's more too, after he cut off my braid (he only did it because that's how boys show they like you, they hit you and stuff) he became my 'boyfriend', walked me home from school, carried my books and beat up other boys on my behalf, who were also trying to 'like' me by hitting or chasing me. But when we were in 6th grade, our moms, who were friends, decided we were too close, and if they didn't split us up, I'd be pregnant before I was 13. So I got sent to private school and we drifted apart...when I came back to the public school system, in 10th grade, we'd totally moved on, he was dating cheerleaders and drill team girls and I was seriously college bound, not his type at all anymore. He wasn't mine either, was arrogant and a jazz band musician, they all thought they were 'all that'. So I didn't let him know I was back, and he never knew. He married a cheerleader, I went on to college. We hooked up at our high school reunion, both on the reunion committee, both divorced. So it's a 2nd marriage for both of us, probably better this way as we've both settled down some. lol

@Warder - I'm so sorry to hear you're feeling sick again. I hope it goes away for good very soon. Sending you some healing energy...

@Elora - I almost feel like your mom sending you off for your first day at school. :p Have a great day.

Wow! great save on his part. My heart is quite warmed by this story.

@3 - getting punched in the nose by a stranger on your first day of kindergarten might have been one of the defining moments of your life. It could explain a lot... just saying.

@Lula, Bith, Brenda and Amara I love your pictures today.

This is even better. You both had time to live life as individuals and have your own experiences plus it kind of proves you two truly were meant to be.

I actually think the *rest of the story* is cooler than the original assumptions.
